The ten worst moments. This was a little harder, because I had to go through some old reviews lurking around the 'net of old Manias. I think I managed to come up with my ten least favorite moments, though.
10 - WrestleMania 2000: The Hardcore Battle Royal. I wasn't a big fan of the 24/7 concept, and I'm still not. I thought it was effective for getting Crash Holly over, but this just didn't do it for me. It just came off boring, and I think the ending seem botched, too.
9 - WrestleMania XI: Bret jobs to Yokozuna, who jobs to Hogan 40 seconds later. This was stupid... not only did Yokozuna, the "cowardly heel" accept a match right after wrestling the champ and winning the belt, he lost in a non-match. Rather than Hogan just wrestle Bret, they had to do this silly little thing, which capped off a pretty bad show altogether. Actually...
8 - WrestleMania XI: All of it, the whole she-bang just sucked. The highlight of the entire event was Jim Ross commentating in a toga. That in itself should tell you something.
7 - WrestleMania II: Mr T vs Roddy Piper in a boxing match. As matches go, this wasn't horrendous, it was just a foregone conclusion from the opening bell that Piper would cheat and start "wrestling" to win. Actually, this match seemed a little less scripted than either of the Holyfield/Ruiz fights. Of course, wrestling IS less scripted than heavyweight boxing nowadays.
6 - WrestleMania VII: Slaughter vs Hogan. Just the whole main event sucked. Not only was I a huge GI Joe fan, but the whole "Slaughter joins the Iraqi" thing was just plain dumb. Of course, we did get to see the Iran Shieks curly boots again, so it wasn't a total loss.
5 - WrestleMania XII: Golddust vs Roddy Piper, Back Alley Brawl. For those of you who are more recent wrestling fans, think of the suck-o-meter rating for WCW's Hardcore Junkyard Invitational. It wasn't god-awful, but it was a pre-taped segment
4 - WrestleMania VI: Roddy Piper paints himself half black and half white to symbolize he's an idiot. In a match against Bad News Brown, Piper wanted to symbolize racial unity... I guess.
3 - WrestleMania VII: Jake Roberts vs Rick Martel, Blindfold Match. In the category of "stupidest gimmick matches ever." The plan was, since Rick Martel used his "Arrogance" spray to blind his opponents, then they'd both have to be blind. This god-awful few minutes of "action" mercifully ended when Jake felt Rick into a DDT... thus ending the agony of all watching.
2 - WrestleMania XV: Big Bossman vs Undertaker, Hell in a Cell. This narrowly edges out the blindfold match, only because after "hanging" the Bossman, they'd completely forgotten about it the next night. It was never mentioned again. They might have taken it somewhere, but not to be. The match was just plain boring, and the finish did nothing for it... especially because it was never mentioned again.
1 - WrestleMania 2000: Mick Foley gets pinned. In the most anti-climactic moment in WWF history, the WWF goes through an entire song-and-dance to wreck a very viable Rock/HHH main event, to place people in a four way dance. Mick Foley's dream, to win the title at Wrestlemania about to be realized. Then, Triple H Pedigrees, and pins him. Without Foley winning, the 4-way was just pointless filler to get us to the HHH/Rock main event.
