The Piledriver Report 12.15.11: A Christmas List for WWE Superstars

December 15, 2011 | Posted by RSarnecky

****Before I begin this week’s article, I wanted to address something. It appears that last week I created quite the controversy with my end of the year awards. There were a lot of complaints regarding my inclusion of MMA personalities in my awards selections. I feel like I need to clear things up. The reason for my inclusion of MMA fighters on my ballot is because these were my picks for the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” awards. Their awards take mixed martial artists into account in their categories. This is why I included them.

With that being said, this week’s article is slightly different than the usual column that you would read from “The Piledriver Report.”

With the Christmas holiday a little more than one week away, it’s time for some last minute shopping for our favorite wrestling personalities.

THE LIST

For CM Punk, I give an extended WWE World title reign that will last until at least WrestleMania XXVIII. I also give him a new championship belt. Punk is a tranditionalist, and the traditional eagle winged belt would look perfect around his waist.

For John Cena, I give at least a year long run as a heel. Maybe turning heel will do for him what it did for The Rock when he was being booed as a babyface. I also give him better material for his promos that allows him to be more serious, and not “Juvenile Jokes with John” time.

For The Miz, I give him a run with the WWE World title where he does get beat or suffer fluke wins. He should have a reign deserving of a champion to make everyone take him seriously as a main eventer.

For Dolph Ziggler, I give him a permanent home as a main event heel in the WWE. He has proved that he can talk, and work. Its time to put Ziggler in the same class as Randy Orton, CM Punk, John Cena, and The Miz.

For The Rock, I give him the ability to have a legitimate year long run in the WWE without having to worry about any movie roles. Sure, he is an actor, but I’m selfish, and want The Rock back.

For Triple H, I give him a son to carry on the Triple H name, as a second generation Triple H.

For Christian, Iike Dolph Ziggler, I give him a home in the main event scene. When Christian was given the opportunity this past summer to have a run as World Heavyweight champion, he did a really good job. Christian proved that he belongs in the top tier of WWE wrestlers.

For Chris Jericho, I give him a WWE contract that allows him to take some time off to pursue his music and other entertainment deals. It’s time for Jericho to get back to work in a wrestling ring to prove that he is still the best in the world.

For Cody Rhodes, I give a Money in the Bank victory in 2012. Rhodes keeps improving every week, and a run with the briefcase will help prepare the fans for Cody’s eventual rise into the main events.

For Daniel Bryan, I give him the respect that he is lacking from the WWE, and a real push to match his extraordinary talents. One thing I do not give him is a loss when cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

For Mark Henry, I give him whatever it is that he has found that has made him the best performer that he has been since he started his WWE career. It only took him 15 years, but Mark Henry has finally arrived.

For Jim Ross, a seat next to Jerry Lawler on RAW where just the two of them can call all of the action on Monday nights. Its where he belongs, and should have never left.

For Randy Orton, I give him a run as a main event level heel on SmackDown! I feel Orton is a better heel than a face. I would also like to give him major props. He was getting the same type of “shove it down your throat” push that John Cena gets. However, lately, Randy Orton has done many clean jobs. Its nice to see that Orton doesn’t need to beat everyone on every show. Great job, Orton.

For Rey Mysterio, I give a full year of health. Mysterio is a terrific performer, but unfortunately, he has spent more time on the DL than in the ring. It would be nice to see a healthy Rey once again.

For Sin Cara, I give him the light bulb turning on where he finally gets the WWE way. Botches become a thing of the past, and we finally see what all of the hype was about. I also give him English lessons, so he can cut a promo.

For Edge, I give him complete health so he can make a comeback to the WWE.

For Shawn Michaels, I give one more WrestleMania match. I’ll be at WrestleMania, and would love to see Shawn perform on the big stage just one more time.

For John Morrison, I give him a new WWE contract, and a real push, not the start and stop push that has become common place with Morrison.

For R-Truth, I have the WWE change directions and NOT turn him face. Truth has been on a great roll since turning heel. Why mess with a good thing. R-Truth should stay heel, and continue making life hell for all of the little “Jimmys” out there.

For the Undertaker, I give him another WrestleMania match where he steals the show. If this is going to be the Undertaker’s final WrestleMania, he should go out with a bang.

For Alberto Del Rio, I give him more of a chance than what the WWE gave him as WWE World Champion. Del Rio is a really good performer, and should be given more of a one month run than what he received this past fall.

For Zack Ryder, I give him a legitimate upper mid-card push, complete with a United States title win. Ryder truly is a self-made man in this business. He could have been future endeavoured, but instead he got himself over, and is one being featured on television every week.

For Hulk Hogan, I give him a life time Legends contract in the WWE. Hogan is the World Wrestling Federation, and should always be a part of the company.

For tag teams, I give a serious push in the WWE. I long for the days of the tag team scene from the mid-eighties ant early 2000s. It’s time to get some serious tag teams back into the company.

For WrestleMania XXVIII, I give the best WrestleMania card since WrestleMania X-Seven. A card headlined by The Rock should have an awesome undercard.

For myself, I give enough creativity to be able to write 52 great articles next year that will hopefully entertain you.

For my readers and wrestling fans all over the world, I give you the most exciting year in wrestling history.
