The Wrestling 5&1 2.11.12: Stacy Keibler Versus Shelly Martinez!

February 11, 2012 | Posted by Greg De Marco

It’s been a great seven days since we last “spoke,” with a great Greg DeMarco Show and a Buggy Nova photo shoot to share! Plus, TNA provided us with two great weeks of Impact Wrestling as we march towards (and preview) Against All Odds.

Want to listen to the Greg DeMarco Show while you read? Click “play” below!

But first…time to feed the trolls!

Just admit it. Without the diva pictures and “5&1” title, the hits/comments go down dramatically. … You are living off the gimmick. Insert any goon (yes, like myself) and the hits/comments would be the same! … Try ONE week to stand on your own!
Posted By: Guest#9540

I give up. How hard is it to understand that if I did what you’re suggesting I would literally be screwing the site and not doing my job? If I told you to try to—for one week—not charge people for their chocolate shakes at McDonalds, how would that go for you?

Exactly.

This is obviously someone who writes for the site as well. jelly he didn’t think of it first
Posted By: Guest#5307

*I* didn’t think of it first, either! I honestly don’t know who did, either.

“The opener saw Samoa Joe & Magnus beat World Tag Team Champions Samoa Joe & Crimson in a Buckingham Brawl”. – Lol, you know…proofreading is your friend.
Posted By: Guest#4753

Dude, that’s not even a Top 10 typo for me!

Stacy >>> Angelina. 4 years ago it MAY have been a toss up, cause around then Angelina was thicker and had a fantastic booty, but she doesn’t even come close with this cocaine/meth diet she’s on. … I don’t mind Sheamus winning the Rumble, just sucks that he won cause HHH’s ego reared it’s ugly head and had the result changed basically a couple days before (I think Jericho or Orton were originally set to win it). … TNA NEEDS to get out of the Impact Zone. Not only was the wrestling good quality wise, but the atmosphere made it so much better without that robotic lifeless Impact Zone crowd.
Posted By: SS87

What does Triple H’s ego have to do with it? Agreed on Angelina four years ago—she was bangin’ back then. And of course I agree about TNA getting out of the Impact Zone.

You’re right about Kharma, but the Orton suggestion would have been too predictable at this point. They’ve done that recently with Cena and Edge. Why do it again so soon with Orton?
Posted By: guest

Sometimes doing what’s predictable is a good thing.

Love that Buggy!!!!
don’t go changing Greg, love the read every week
Posted By: Ramone

Don’t worry Ramone, I won’t!

I really don’t want to see a full fledged Bryan-Punk fued. I would tho like to see 1 ppv main event where they set out to prove who really is the best in the world. Just give them 30 minutes on the big stage and let them go at it. But if they where in a long drawn out program then that would mean 1 less thing I’d interested in seeing on the rest of the show ya dig?
Posted By: SuperCorky

You make a great point. It doesn’t need to be a feud, just one well build match. Being built as a competitive wrestling match at that. I like it. Actually, I love it! And thanks for all of the compliments you included in your comment, too.

And a Huge “Hell Yeah” to: Bryan VS Punk, more Buggy Nova, and the NY Giants!
Posted By: SilentOx

Glad you see it my way!

Stacey, all day every day and twice on Sundays!!
And enough of the Buggy, this obsession is sad.
Posted By: Guest#5063

I’m sorry you feel that way about “The Buggy.” But many people love The Buggy. And she’s sort of a homegrown talent for this column at this point, too.

Also LOL at DGUSA being a far cry from ROH. What is interesting about ROH right now besides Kevin Steen and The Briscoes? Wrestling’s Most Boring Tag Team? Davey’s fighting spirit? … I’m no huge DGUSA supporter but between the Japanese talents, Low Ki, and the Americans whose stock has been risen through DGUSA, calling them a far cry from ROH is some bullshit. Sure the product itself is a bit of a niche product, but Indy wrestling as a whole is.
Posted By: Guest#7636

For every Low Ki or Japanese talent, we’re stuck with The Scene. In reality, I was referring to DGUSA’s market penetration and draw, which sucks at this point.

1)Stacy wins. 2)I love Buggy soooooo much! 3)And how come you announce it is February and no shout-out for Black History Month???
Posted By: Scot von Puperson

You know, I’m horrible with holidays and theme months in general. I need to be better about that.

I’ve said it a million times, the problem with TNA is two things: their booking which makes next to no sense whatsoever, but the far bigger issue is the production level. It just looks and sounds like a company that has no funds. I mean, it looks worse than WCW did in the late 90s, the camera cuts aren’t smooth, it looks industrial and dirty… it just doesn’t look like an appealing product. That’s the worst part, because the wrestling is usually amazing, but is severely hampered by stupid booking and awful production.
Posted By: Banz

I think you’re a bit too hard on TNA’s production, they are going for a grainy, industrial feel. The booking has been terrible in the past, but it’s vastly improved since Roode won the world title.

Very good column this week, but it looks like HHH is turning down Taker’s challenge. What did you make of HHH’s “Yeah, about that…” face and shoulder grab. I think HHH is going to decline the challenge, citing how “personal issues” getting him removed as Raw GM in the past. That will leave the door open for a new challenger.
Posted By: Clint Barton

That would be amazing if it happened. Seriously, I would love it even more if Triple H stepped aside and called on someone else in particular, like verbally praising Dolph Ziggler before giving him the match.

And anyone who thinks this Brodus Clay garbage is entertaining is not a true pro wrestling fan and a colossal retard.
Posted By: Dirty Sanchez

There are apparently a lot of us colossal retards out there. Many of which write for this site.

You mentioned throwing Barrett to Taker. I know the WWE isn’t so great on continuity, but every once in a while, they get it right. I’m looking at Punk going after Orton quite some time after Legacy took him out before the Scramble match. My memory is hazy, but wasn’t it just over a year ago when Barrett and Nexus helped Kane beat Taker in the Buried Alive match? If memory serves me correct, Taker was gone til he and HHH came back to set up the Mania match, so that’s been left alone completely.
Posted By: Guest#5721

Not only that, but there was very little expliantion for The Nexus’s attack, outside of “we have our reasons.”

I’m a little disappointed that it’s going to be Taker & HHH again. Their match last year was good, not great, but it’s hardly worth repeating. Then take into account this would be the third time these two will have faced off makes it even less appealing. My favorite wrestler of all time is HBK and even if they were to put him in as a guest ref, I really don’t think that’s going to add much. … If they don’t want to rub a younger guy, fine. It could have been great to have either CM Punk or Jericho as Taker’s opponent. But my thought is that this will be Taker’s last match, and perhaps it’s Taker would wanted HHH as his final opponent? Who knows.
Posted By: SteveyMac

The rumor was that Undertaker picked Wade Barrett last year, but Vince made the call to change it. who knows if that was true. But you make an excellent point—can HHH-Taker match last year? I feared that with HBK-Taker, and they still delivered.

Stacy, and it’s not even close. I think you robbed Rosa, though, because Stacy was, for quite a while, considered one of the hottest women in the entire world. … I almost crapped my pants, because my current girlfriend could pass as Buggy’s sister!
Posted By: Andis

Rosa will get another chance, don’t worry. And do you live in Southern California? Because Buggy does have a sister…

Appreciate the shout Greg, Im digging the radio show too. Want to call in but I work early AM and am snoozin when you go live. As you saw I DID answer the little bug and nuff said about it.
Posted By: CottonMouthWolf

No worries, bro. And ignore the haters. Or embrace them, as I do. Remember, it’s lonely at the top!

Angelina Love is like that dancer who flirts with you at a strip club and gets you to buy her drinks…and then 5 lap dances, during which she breaks the no touching rule…and then she goes back to your place and bangs you…and then when you wake up, your wallet and watch are missing and she’s nowhere to be found. … Not that that’s ever happened to me…it’s just what I’ve head from a friend. … Definitely Stacey…no doubt about it.
Posted By: Frisco Kid (Guest) on February 04, 2012 at 02:27 AM

No need for me to answer, as Guest #5183 said it best:

Why can’t more comments follow Frisco’s lead and try to lighten things up? … I’m exhausted by all the people on 411 who treat wrestling like it’s Middle East peace negotiations.
Posted By: Guest#5183

On a side note outside of your 5 & 1…what do you think of the lineup for ROH and CHIKARA on April 28th for Chicago Greg?
Posted By: AGNJoe

Welcome back, Joe. You’ve been missed. How are things?

As for ROH-CHIKARA in April, I need to reserve judgment. Only one match has been announced. I need to see exactly what they’re doing.

Your format is great. Good insight every week and the eye candy is a sweet bonus. Plus you seem to be trying to do your best to promote women’s wrestling and I for one get a kick out of seeing the progress the DeMarcettes are making in their careers.
Posted By: fullrubberbodysuit

Thank you, sir. When I picked the DeMarcettes, I felt like I did a good job. It’s not an exact science, but I usually get a good read on people. But man, I seemed to have nailed it with those four! Each one of them has something special, and each will go as far as they want to in this business.

Also, Buggy is freaking HOT.
Posted By: Michael

Are you sure about that? Because some idiot thinks I’m pushing her down your collective throats.

I can’t help but wonder if something is physically wrong with Taker. I don’t mean like life-threatening or anything, but just that I find it odd that he never appeared a single time after Mania until this last Raw. This is the most time he’s ever taken off and I have a feeling he must really be hurting. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was his last match.
Posted By: Dr. Toboggan

I think he’s just banged up from years of in-ring action. I do believe that if there wasn’t a “streak” to worry about, he would have retired last year.

Keibler is trash, but I’ll take her here since Angelina looks like a starving zombie most of the time. Shame Angelina looks nowhere near as good as she did several years ago.
Posted By: It’s true

What makes her trash?

TNA Wrestling presents their Against All Odds pay-per-view event this Sunday evening. The event has been built over the past several weeks of television, and they have been some of TNA’s best in recent memory. The final push came in London, as TNA presented two Impact Wrestling broadcasts from the sold out Wembley Arena. These shows had an old school Clash of the Champions feel to them, and I enjoyed every minute.

Let’s take a look at the card.

Main Event: TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bobby Roode (champion) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm vs. Bully Ray

TNA has done a good job with the build, as each challenger now has an issue with the champ—and with each other. Hardy wasn’t in London for the past two weeks, but they have kept him involved from a distance. Here’s hoping we see Roode stealing James Storm’s pin en route to victory, starting a build towards Storm-Roode in the main event of Lockdown.

Tag Team Championship Match
Matt Morgan & Crimson (champions) vs. Magnus & Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe & Magnus are the breakout stars of 2012—as a team. I was rooting for them to win at Genesis, and I expect to see it here. I’d look for a pin on Matt Morgan, reigniting the issue between Morgan and the undefeated Crimson. But in bigger news, look for a great run by Joe & Magnus as champs. I just hope we can find them some competition.

X-Division Championship Match
Austin Aries (champion) vs. Alex Shelley

We have seen several combinations of these two in the ring together during the build, and it’s been great each time. Shelley offers more as a challenger to Aries than anyone else during his stellar reign, which has been going since September 11, 2011! I hope to see that reign continue further into 2012.

Knockouts Championship Match
Gail Kim (champion) vs. Tara

It doesn’t seem like Gail was quite done with Mickie James when Tara won the title shot on Impact Wrestling. And Velvet Sky just got a fall on Mickie James on Impact Wrestling—possibly making her next in line. TNA seems to be building a reign for Gail (much like they’ve done with Aries) that could culminate with a big match at Lockdown—presumably against Mickie James.

AJ Styles vs. Kazarian
The real story of this match is Christopher Daniels’ apparent mind control over Kazarian. And we have no idea why. The assumed run-in aside, I fully expect both men to deliver big time in the ring. This would make a great choice for opening match, too.

Garett Bischoff vs. Gunner
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff will accompany their respective friends to the ring for this match, and you know they’ll play a role in the finish. I feel like we’re building towards Hogan & Garett vs. Gunner & Eric at Lockdown, and that makes total sense at this point. And since it’s relegated to the undercard, I’m cool with it.

X-Division Championship #1 Contenders Match
Jesse Sorensen vs. Zema Ion

To say this match has had a minimal build would be lying. It’s had zero build. But it’s a non-championship X-Division match on PPV, between two of the young stars of the division. So count me in. I’ll be interested to see when the winner gets his shot—on PPV or on Impact—since both have had PPV shots in recent months.

Do you want my official predictions? Look for the PPV Roundtable right here at 411Mania! However, I’d love to see your predictions in the comments section.

You Decide: TNA’s Against All Odds…Buy or No Buy?

The new look of FirstRow.TV!

Despite the death of SOPA, the government is still going after sites that distribute copyrighted material. Megaupload is no more, and FirstRow.TV has been shut down. This happened a few days before the Super Bowl, and has a big impact on wrestling and MMA.

I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve used this site (or its sister sites) to watch wrestling in the past. I watched Money in the Bank 2011 that way, and I caught 90% of the 2012 Royal Rumble through the stream. It was convenient. But that doesn’t make it right!

What makes me laugh are the people complaining about the fact that this was shut down. As if you deserved to watch wrestling PPVs for free! News flash, you didn’t! Neither did I. Let’s take a look back at Yahoo’s release:

Three days before Super Bowl XLVI, U.S. prosecutors said they seized 16 websites that illegally streamed live sports and pay-per-view events over the Internet, and charged a Michigan man with running nine of those websites. According to the government, the 16 websites provided links to give viewers easy access to other sites that hosted pirated telecasts from the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (“WWE”) and TNA Impact Wrestling. The latter is also broadcast on Viacom Inc’s Spike TV. Prosecutors said such piracy costs leagues and broadcasters millions of dollars a year, and some of this cost is passed on to ticket buyers and sports network subscribers. “These websites and their operators deprive sports leagues and networks of legitimate revenue” in what amounts to “virtual thievery,” said U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan, who announced the website seizures.

I can’t argue with the prosecutors’ stance here. WWE, TNA, UFC, NFL, etc. are all entitled to do business, promote their shows and make money off of them. First Row Sports prevented that from happening. What’s more is the manner in which the owner, Yonjo Quiroa, was caught:

…a U.S. Department of Homeland Security enforcement agent posing as a WWE representative last week offered to buy various domain names associated with the defendant, and received a response offering to “make a deal.”

The UFC played a part in Justin.tv getting shut down, and I really hope the UFC, WWE, or both played a large role in this one. At its core, this was completely illegal. Of course, it wasn’t illegal to watch it, but it was illegal to upload and distribute it.

I guess we’ll have to buy PPV’s from now on, huh? It sure beats sitting very close to the TV hoping you can hear the PPV through the static like I did as a kid!

You Decide: Does anyone really have the right to be upset about this?

So if you’re in the minority who think I shove far too much Buggy Nova (means “Crazy Star” by the way) down readers’ throats, then “The Three” isn’t for you! Ms. Nova was hired to do a photo shoot this week, and I have some results! Enjoy…or don’t! “It doesn’t matter what you think!”

I must say, below you’ll find one of my favorite editions of The Greg DeMarco Show. No major reason, it all just came together. We had no production issues—no technical problems. We had a great guest I Tough Enough’s Luke Robinson. I had a fill-in co-host in Andy Critchell, and he did an amazing job. We had a first time contributor on Derek Gordon, and he brought some awesome discussion to the table. Tony Acero, Steve Cook and Justin Freemyer were all on top of their game. And Buggy…Buggy was phenomenal as usual. Plus, we had a surprise call from Dragon Gate USA’s Larry Dallas! If you’ve been on the fence and unsure if you want to listen to another wrestling show—or if you left us and aren’t sure if you want to come back, this is a great place to start. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

The latest episode of The Greg DeMarco Show, presented by 411Mania.com/Wrestling, aired on February 7, as Greg & guest co-host Andy Critchell welcomed the WWE Tough Enough alum Luke Robinson!

Luke Robinson joined the program to talk about how he was portrayed on Tough Enough, what the cast were told behind the scenes, his WWE future, and how his career has changed since the airing. Luke presents his candid thoughts on the finale, his journey through the taping and his life outside of wrestling. Plus, hear him give a heel perspective on his upcoming match against Martin Casaus for UCW-Zero!

With Patrick O’Dowd out enjoying the joys of being a new father, Andy Critchell (The Monday edition of The 411 on Wrestling Podcast and OffTheTeam.com) stepped in and stepped up—big time. “Die Hard” Derek Gordon (NWA Cyberspace, Die Hard Pro Wrestling, the “And Justice for Brawl” blog) made his first appearance on the show, discussing RAW and the Road to WrestleMania. Steve Cook, Tony Acero and Justin Freemyer chimed in as they do each and every week! Plus, Buggy Nova returned in full health after a week off to discuss her time at WrestleReunion and accompanying Larry Dallas and The Scene to the ring for Dragon Gate USA. During Buggy’s call, we were surprised by a call from Larry Dallas himself!
