Now, before I start droppin F bombs and “UMADBRO” jpgs, I want to apologize. The podcast playing was completely on accident, but completely my fault. Greg had nothing to do with it. Now, I said this in the comment section, but I’ll say it here again: if there is ever any issue within the column that you find bothersome (or, in this case, downright annoying), the best way to let me know is by just sayin somethin. A bulk of you tended to take the not-so-high road that the internet lends and attempted to belittle me with such vitrol that I couldn’t sleep at night. F’real tho, y’all need to calm your tits.

I’m not sure where your hatred stems from. Do you need a hug? It wasn’t the same gimmick. It was altered – even if only slightly – the moment Glenn Beck said something. I’m not talking solely about them focusing on race, but there was a noticeable and distinct aura of indiscretion beforehand. As for you misquoting me (I never said “oh”), I don’t see where your theory connects. A complete non-sequiter if you ask me. A lil more Logos, a lil less Ethos, and we’ll talk, k? 😉

And I would open with Ziggler beating Kofi. Give them 10 minutes to jump start the crowd and really put on a show and the whole match Cole and Lawler keep putting over Ziggler’s briefcase and the rumors about when he’ll cash in, foreshadowing him cashing in. I would have him cash in…and lose. Afterwards AJ goes to assist him, allowing Big E to attack and destroy him. I think Dolph has gone as far as he can as a heel, so let’s see what he can come up with as a face. – Anthony

I have no clue why, but I don’t want them to unify the two midcard titles. I think they have so much more to offer than what they are currently presented as. I really think they are the perfect tool to get someone from the bottoms of the bottom to the upper level mid card and even main event. Hell, that’s what they were once used for, right? As for the qualifying matches and all that, I like the idea. And the IC Title brackets they did last year really added somethin to the title. What the W’s needs to focus on, though, isn’t the build up to the matches, but the continuation of the champion. Look at the current IC and US champ! They’ve lost more than they’ve won, and when they win, it means nothing because it’s simply a way for them to get the heat that lost from losing. (Did you follow that? I damn near didn’t).

I agree that the split betwixt Kane and Bryan probably should have happened already, but they’re so damned confused about what they want to do and the titles are suffering because of it. Thanks for the elaborate response!

The Shield took the WWE by storm last November, debuting during a pay-per-view main event. This is rare, as surprise debuts are normally reserved for live, free television and not the pay (or steal) kind.

Their impact on the WWE landscape is pointed—they are set to feud with a trio comprised of both faces and heels at WrestleMania 29. Their attacks have their own special camera angles. From day one, they have epitomized team—no one takes the lead for longer than 5 minutes, and it’s okay if someone speaks for the group because, at some point, everyone speaks for the group.
And the group always listens.

Aces & Eights took TNA by storm last May, attacking Sting after he was announced as the first ever inductee into TNA’s Hall of Fame. Outside of “Mike,” an inconsequential member that isn’t even on the TNA roster, no one in the group was unmasked until last October’s Bound For Glory. And it wasn’t an exciting newcomer to the company, it was Devon—the less over former member of Team 3D. Since that day, the newcomers to the company include a poorly named Luke Gallows, a poorly groomed Mike Knox and a poorly prepared Wes Brisco. Add in a non-factor in Garret Bischoff, a near has-been in Mr. Anderson and retired wrestlers in Taz and D-Lo Brown and you have a group that really shouldn’t be winning any matches.

Now they have a leader, and it’s Bully Ray. If you’re counting at home, the group has nine members. Two of them haven’t wrestled on WWE television—and those two are Wes Brisco and Garret Bischoff! The rest are WWE retreads, much like a good majority of TNA’s upper card. In fact, Bully Ray beat former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy to win TNA’s World Heavyweight Championship, embarrassing the man who ushered in the WWF’s first major era, Hulk Hogan.

Right now the two most likely candidates to “save” TNA from Aces & Eights are Sting and Hulk Hogan. If they don’t do it, it’s likely to be Jeff Hardy. If that doesn’t happen, we will likely have a returning Jeff Jarrett to thank for saving his company. At least that one would make sense.

Meanwhile you have guys like Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, James Storm, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles walking around representing the homegrown talent that TNA could be boasting. Imagine if Aces & Eights were revealed to be those seven guys? Imagine the impact (pun fully intended) they could make on TNA’s weekly product?

But then we can turn back to The Shield. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were recognized by Michael Cole as NXT talent from the moment they debuted on WWE television. They have attacked and feuded with John Cena, The Rock, Ryback, Randy Orton, The Big Show, Kane, Daniel Bryan and The Miz. They have been linked to CM Punk and Paul Heyman.

And they’ve never lost.

In an era where both the WWE is criticized for not building new stars, and TNA is criticized for not properly utilizing the new stars they’ve built, The Shield stands tall as the best booked stable in the recent history of pro wrestling. All three guys are over, they’ve never lost and no one else on the roster has been pushed down or had their own image hurt by The Shield. Even Ryback, who The Shield has owned for quite a while now, is still regarded as an unstoppable monster that the WWE will likely put over Mark Henry at WrestleMania 29.
The Shield is fresh, exciting, credible, reliable and regarded as the future of the WWE. Or, as I like to call it, the exact opposite of TNA’s Aces & Eights.

You Decide: Is The Shield better than Aces & Eights?

As we draw closer to the big day, April 7th, Metlife Stadium… Wrestle Mania 29! The Super Bowl of sports entertainment, fans from all over the world will flock to the greater New York City area to be a part of what is a now a week-long celebration. For fans it’s a week-long vacation to see “the show of shows” and to explore some place they may have never considered going to. For the workers in the business, this is their Christmas, and a chance to live out a dream and mark their legacy in this business. But as we look toward April 7th, let’s take our minds back to 29 years ago and to the time of the first Wrestle Mania, where there were no monthly pay-per-views or Monday Night Raw. Pro Wrestling was getting closer to point of becoming mainstream but not quite yet. It just needed that little of push to get the motor going and one person had the vision to get the vehicle into drive and on the freeway. If Vincent Kennedy McMahon would have never rolled the dice and put everything he had on his vision, where would the world of wrestling be at today? If the inaugural Wrestle Mania in Garden was a flop, where would the WWE be? Would there still be territories to this day? Who would be the most successful and celebrated wrestler of all-time? Where would the bar be set for performers to be the best and become immortal? Maybe Starrcade? Starrcade did come just two years before Wrestle Mania as being the granddaddy of them for all of wrestling shows.

Wrestling fans would have never been treated to some of the greatest matches of all time, Hogan body-slamming Andre in front of 93,173 screaming fan or HBK and Taker’s classic battle at Wrestle Mania 25. Speaking of The Undertaker, there would be no streak, which is now a big draw for WrestleMania with the Undertaker being 20-0.

Let’s look at the scenario if the Rock n’ Wrestling Connection wasn’t ever formed, would wrestling still be more on the traditional side or would wrestling still even exist?

If the first Wrestle Mania did not become successful, then I could see promotions like NWA and AWA surviving just a little bit longer than they did. There would probably be no ECW and WCW and probably no Monday Night Wars. It would have been just one big domino effect and wrestling probably would have been boring to most people and sent out to pastor and died. I think Wrestle Mania is the lifeblood of this business and I don’t wrestling would have survived without it. As we continue down our road to WrestleMania 29, you can’t help but ponder the questions what would life be like without WrestleMania?

You Decide: What would have happened if Wrestlemania wasn’t successful?

My name is Tony Acero, and I am not wearing any pants. Now you know. At any rate, recent reports of Scott Hall have been surfacing about him trying to get his life back together with the help of DDP. DDP wants fans to help out with an $80,000 hip replacement, with a promise that he’d be managing the money to assure that it wasn’t spent on booze, drugs, and blank CDs. With that promise, there may very well be hope for the former Razor Ramon, but fans are seemingly very apprehensive about the donation, claiming that Scott Hall effectively pissed away all of his money, so why should they help. While I can neither agree or disagree, I thought it very interesting that the human emotion of sympathy is all but gone for a character such as Scott Hall. From people breaking down financial statistics to prove how he could very well be broke, to others wishing death upon the man. It’s an interesting world we live in, ain’t it.

I am not here to tell anyone to take their hard earned money and fork it over to a man who has really destroyed his own life, nor am I advocating that we hold back due to his former (current?) lifestyle. Instead, I want to focus on the all too interesting aspect of a “celebrity” asking his fans for help. For a long time, this relationship has always had an interesting dynamic. In a sense, it’s quite one-sided. They (the celebrity) are to live their lives in the open 24/7. With outlets like the internet, TMZ, Perez Hilton, etc. nothing is hidden. There was once a time when we had no idea Tom Cruise was a couch-jumping psycho. I miss those days. It appears in the Scott Hall situation, they have turned the tables and have put out their hands for the almighty dollar that we were more than willing to give – when they were entertaining us. Again, I am not preaching, but I do find it odd that we (myself included) are not willing to give a dollar to a man who essentially gave us a few good years of entertainment and was part of a group that altered the landscape forever. It’s a question I’m asking myself now, why I won’t give a dollar towards him. Is it because I am broke? Because I disagree with his life decisions? Because I feel he shouldn’t be given another chance?

I truly don’t know the reason, and figure writing about it would help pinpoint the decision. And now I turn to you, reader. Are we feeding off of the anger and disappointment of a man who could have been something but turned to drugs and alcohol? Or is it simply that we only WANT from celebrities and are opposed to GIVING to them due to the fact that in our minds they are “rich?”

Cherry Bomb talks wrestling and breaks records on the most listened to live Greg DeMarco Show broadcast in history!

This week’s Greg DeMarco Show featured the first appearance of independent standout Cherry Bomb. “Ms. Bomb” discussed the many different ways her name can be addressed and how she got her start in the world of wrestling. Cherry also discussed her time in Combat Zone Wrestling, working beside her real life fiancé Pepper Parks, and her WWE aspirations. Cherry Bomb also compared being the only women’s match on a card versus working an all-female show. Cherry chimed in on her recent movie role, as well as the “Grumpy Bomb” phenomenon that has taken off in social media.

DeMarcette Su Yung joined the program at the end of Cherry Bomb’s interview, demanding that Greg make Cherry Bomb DeMarcette #8 on the spot. Greg was happy to oblige, as Cherry was welcomed to the family live on the air!

Su Yung also discussed her upcoming trip to Japan, promising to take Patrick O’Dowd on her flight as carry-on luggage.

Chad Perry joined Greg and Patrick in a discussion of the TNA Lockdown results—including on how each feels about Bully Ray’s heel turn as the president of Aces & Eights, as well as our hopes as the promotion starts a new era by taking Impact Wrestling on the road. Tony Acero joined the fun for a 4-person panel discussion about the WWE ignoring it’s “Once In A Lifetime” tagline for WrestleMania 28 as John Cena faces The Rock one more time at WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium.
