RINGSIDE or CHEAP SEATS 11.12.06: Wrestling TV 11/6 to 11/11

RAW

Is the wrestling good? Yes it is. Are there funny promos and segments? You know it. So why in the hell do I think this show is going nowhere? It just seems that the feuds are lasting way too long. The only real change has been DX feuding with actual wrestlers in Orton and Edge. I will admit I do like Eric Bischoff’s on air character. He was brought in at a good time but I think he needs to bail after Survivor Series.

All in all the show went through the motions. AH fuck it….I’m so pissed off about K-Fed! I can’t hide it any longer. What the hell are they thinking? Did they not watch the David Arquette debacle back in WCW’s downward spiral? We have to put up with this clown or have him in storylines all the way until January now. Just the fact that they wrote this guy in makes me wants to boycott RAW for the next two months. I’m still debating on whether to do this but it is possible that we will not cover RAW if we see any type of K-Fed replay’s, appearances, or promos.

Jeff Hardy is doing a great job and has been as sharp as he has ever been. He is making excellent matches with Nitro and the mid-card talent.

I was laughing at the ending of the show. Those boobs I mentioned in the teaser line were not the ones we wanted to see. It was that fat bastard guy who strips when DX summons him so to speak. That guy does play the part well and HHH and HBK going from serious kick ass mode to funny in a snap is really keeping DX fresh and interesting. I was cracking up when they were dancing with him.

It’s nice to see Ron Simmons hanging around. I have no clue where they are going with this but we shall see. He is getting a decent reaction.

They say that the audience will only remember the last thing you do. The last segment on RAW was funny and entertaining but K-Fed people…..yep sitting in the CHEAP SEATS.

ECW

Well it is November and I have been preaching that this month will be the tell tale signs if this brand can make it or not. They have already decided not to continue the house show tour. ECW isn’t strong enough on its own yet. They are slowly building to there big PPV in December so I guess I could be a month off in terms of whether or not it continues. They need to make it happen this month or the buy rates for that PPV are going to be SMACKDOWN summer 06 bad.

The buy rates are good for One Night Stand because people are expecting the old ECW style. That style is buried in WWE production and people are seeing that in the weekly show. The ratings are not what they used to be during the debut so unless something major changes in the style of matches they may be screwed.

I mentioned in the teaser line that the show started with the future. That translates to CM Punk being the opening match. The crowd loves the guy and he is an excellent performer in the ring. The funny thing is that his look is nothing special and his gimmick isn’t any better than anyone else on that roster. I think people are really buying into his character because he is just being himself. They always say that the best characters are extensions of the real person and this is a prime example. The guy is the future and he will have a job waiting for him if ECW does fold in the near future. Hopefully he will go with TNA!

I have to give praise to Paul Heyman. The guy is a wrestling genius and I would love for him to have more power in the ECW show. He performs a character better than any general manager role I’ve ever seen. He makes us believe and he goes to the next level where you know he could get fired for saying things on the air.

All in all I will stay RING SIDE for the time being. This is a crucial time for the brand and hopefully WWE knows this. I think it is good for the industry if this show can keep going.

TNA

Let’s make this section real easy. They know what they’re doing. I cannot wait for this week’s new time slot. I have a feeling ratings will be off the charts and they are not afraid to pull out all the stops to keep the new viewers tuning in.

The show was solid and even if it was mid-card dominated it still kept me interested and the wrestling is the style that we need right now. I am still at RING SIDE.

SMACKDOWN

Well the show started setting up its card for Survivor Series. I can’t say I’m surprised at the matches. They basically took No Mercy and recycled it. It’s a good thing they have RAW to compliment the show are else this probably would suck.

I like the Undertaker and Mr. Kennedy feud now. I think Mr. Kennedy is doing everything possible to make people buy into this feud. He doesn’t want people to think that this is just another Taker squash fest. However, history tells us that something will happen to the Taker and he will then disappear until the Royal Rumble or maybe even Wrestlemania.

King Booker is the man and he should keep the title at Survivor Series. Even though Batista is getting good pops, I attribute this to a big fish in a small pond theme. Speaking of the title picture I would like to see the Undertaker get the title one more time. It’s been ages since he’s had it and if he can commit to a full-time schedule for 6 months this may be interesting. For some reason I thought it would be a good time to toss that thought out there.

This week’s show was like last week’s show…..still on cruise control. That being said I really have nothing else to say. I am in the CHEAP SEATS.
