We have ROHwaukee phoning in results tonight, so I should be getting updates pretty regularly.

ROH Brand New Day
Chicago Ridge, IL – July 14, 2007

We’ve got contact. All’s well. The building is arranged in the traditional setup with the entrance ramp in the corner, not the PPV setup used on 6/23.

Pre Show Results

a) Pretty Unreal (Mike Elgin & Ash) defeated the Naptown Dragons (Vortekz & “Diehard” Dustin Lee) via pinfall at 6:22 – Elgin and Ash won with a crucifix powerbomb/neckbreaker combination on Lee. Match was fine, but short. The Dragons were over huge as faces and will probably get invited back based on the crowd reaction.

b) Joker defeated Sal Rinauro via pinfall at 9:01 – Joker got the win with his Joker Driver finisher. Sal has really regressed since his stint as a tag champ. It seems like Joker could be brought in on the main roster after this performance as he was pretty dominant over Rinauro.

Main Show

Show started at 7:45pm, about 15 minutes behind schedule.

1) Jigsaw defeated Pelle Primeau, Steve Madison and Arik Cannon in a Four Corner Survival via pinfall at 14:22 – Jigsaw pinned Cannon after a Jig n’ Tonic. Cannon had just hit Primeau with the Glimmering Warlock, but couldn’t capitalize on the move when Jigsaw jumped him from behind. Madison was helped from ringside after a nasty bump that saw Jigsaw hit a flying headscissors that sent Madison crashing from the apron to the ringside. Crowd was reportedly really hot for the match.

2) The North Star Express (Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz) defeated Irish Airborne (Jake & Dave Crist) via pinfall at 12:56 – NSE got the win when Corbin hit Jake with a piledriver and Cruz took Dave out at ringside with a chair. After the match, Cruz and Corbin got into it with a fan at ringside and had to be restrained. The Crists got some revenge by hitting Cruz with the Irish Air Raid, but Corbin took both men out with the ring bell and helped Cruz to the back.

3) Shingo defeated Doug Williams via pinfall at 18:49 – Williams kicked out of both the Last Falconry and the Blood Fall before being pinned by a wrist-clutch Last Falconry. Shingo worked Williams’ knee for most of the early portion of the match and Williams couldn’t hold the bridge after hitting the Chaos Theory. Reportedly an absolutely fantastic match.

4) Allison Danger defeated Daizee Haze via pinfall at 5:08 – Solid outing from the ladies. Danger got the pin after whipping Haze chest-first into the turnbuckle and rolling her up with a schoolboy with her feet on the ropes. Good heel heat for the finish. Daizee was upset and protested the finish after the match.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was introduced by Bobby Cruise and made his way to the ring to one of the biggest pops you can imagine. He talks about the kind of business that his father and grandfather were proud to be a part of and how ROH is keeping that business alive in the wrestling world today. Joey Ryan then interrupts, telling Rocky that he’s not welcome in ROH, because Joey’s the only real star in the company. Big heat for Ryan. Ryan starts to get in Rock’s face and Rock is about to retaliate when Arrogance jumps him from behind. Ryan, Bosh & Lost beat down The Rock with Ryan giving him the Mustache Ride and Lost hitting his Lost in Space elbow drop to finish off the assault. Rock was helped to the back by ROH security. Ryan then grabs the mic again and declares the Dynasty re-formed in ROH. He promises an even bigger impact later in the night, and keeps yelling at Johnson until Tyler Black runs in, leading to their match starting.

5) Joey Ryan defeated Tyler Black in an ROH World Title Qualifier via pinfall at 20:11 – Less comedy than you’d expect from a Joey Ryan match these days, with Ryan reverting back somewhat to his Technical Wizard persona. Black hurt his arm when he went for a lariat on the outside and Ryan moved leading to Black hitting his arm on the ringpost. Ryan worked the arm mercilessly and then finally got the win after hitting a low blow and rolling Black up with a hammerlock cradle. Said to be a really good match with Ryan getting absolutely huge heel heat.

Intermission – Crowd estimated at 1750. The break went about 35 minutes.

6) CJ Otis defeated Seth Delay via pinfall at 7:11 – Otis dominated Delay with a variety of submission holds and strikes before picking up the win with a Burning Hammer. Solid match to get the crowd back into the show after intermission. Nothing special.

7) Delirious defeated Jimmy Jacobs in an ROH World Title Qualifier via submission at 26:30 – Off-the-charts back-and-forth contest the whole way. Jacobs hit a senton from the top rope to a table at ringside about twenty minutes in, but was unable to capitalize. Delirious was over beyond belief. Finish came when Delirious rolled through on a Contra Code attempt and locked in the Cobra Stretch, forcing Jacobs to tap out. Right after the bell sounded, Ryan came down to the ring and ran down Delirious. Ryan promised to beat the masked man at the next show and become ROH World Champion. Arrogance then came back down to ringside and the Dynasty began to move in on Delirious until the Briscoes’ music hit, leading to…

8) Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) defeated Jay & Mark Briscoe in a 2/3 Falls Match to win the ROH World Tag Team Titles at 41:22 – First fall saw Lost pin Mark with a Lost in Space elbow drop after Bosh had hit a lariat into a backbreaker. First fall took about 15 minutes. The Briscoes came back in the second fall by pinning Bosh after a Jay Driller around the 26 minute mark. The third fall was white hot, with lots of false finishes and near falls. The Briscoes almost won on a Cutthroat Driver/Legdrop combo on Lost, but Ryan ran to ringside and pulled the referee out. With the referee attending to Ryan, “The New Age Punisher” B-Boy ran in from the crowd and hit Mark with a Shining Wizard. He then hit Jay with a cross-armed piledriver allowing Bosh to cover for the win and the belts.

-Ryan, Bosh, Lost and B-Boy celebrated in the ring and Ryan introduced B-Boy as the newest member of the Dynasty. All four men beat down the Briscoes until Delirious ran down to ringside to help. He tried to make the save but the numbers caught up with him. The Dynasty beat down all three men until The Rock ran down for the save. Rock Bottoms for Bosh and Lost, but Ryan and B-Boy escaped to ringside. Bosh ends up taking a People’s Elbow. The show ends with the Dynasty staring down the Rock, the Briscoes and Delirious.

Show ended at 12:11am.

Announced for ROH’s next show:
-Joey Ryan vs. Delirious for the ROH World Title
-B-Boy, Chris Bosh and Scott Lost vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe and Tyler Black
-Jimmy Jacobs vs. Shingo
-The Rock will be in attendance!

Return date to Chicago Ridge is 8/25.
