Magnus Books The Midwest 11.09.07: The Roster and Week 1 Preview

So what’s to replace it. Well, I’ve decided to bring something into the fray that I know I can do well, and have been doing for several years now: fantasy booking. My booking has in the past seen me fantasy book small independent promotions in South California and the Midwest, and again I plan to book a small Midwest promotion this time around.

My column will take the format of results for this week’s show, then news and previews of next week’s show. There will be a big event that will take place in every fifth column while you can consider the smaller events to be TV shows. As for my writing style, it will be a mix of my reviewing style and some occasional color commentary on the big points of my matches, combined with interviews that will be written in full.

This week however I will be taking a small diversion to introduce you to all the names on my roster. Some you will be familiar with, some you will not. And then a preview will be given for the first show next week.

Main Event, Battle of the Midwest- ‘The Anarchist’ Arik Cannon vs Tyler Black
Here we have a showcase for two top talents on the Midwest independent wrestling scene. Tyler Black has stated that he wants to make an impact to get into title contention, Arik Cannon has said that he aims to make a statement with his actions in this match, stating that he will do whatever it takes to get the victory. Can Tyler pull off the big win, or will ‘The Anarchist’ live up to his name?

Four Corner Survival – ‘The Good Guy’ Azrieal vs Low-Ki vs El Generico vs Matt Sydal
A match signed by Ian Rotten, here we have four light-heavyweights who want to prove they deserve to be at the top of the card. Low-Ki has simply stated he wants to destroy all of his opponents on the way to the main event. The other three will need to neutralise Low-Ki if they are to have any chance of walking away with the win. However, you can expect lots of high risk, high impact moves from these four men in what will surely be a very entertaining bout.

Sterling James Keenan vs Ricochet
A clash of styles here as the high flying Ricochet takes on the more ground based Sterling James Keenan. Keenan however has said that he has a plan in place that will guarantee him not only the win, but the career ending moment of Ricochet. What does Keenan mean by this? Will Ricochet pick up a surprise win? We will find out next week

Tag Team Scramble – Quacksaw (Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw) vs Team Midwest (Josh Abercrombie and Marek Brave) vs The New Blackout (Eddie Kingston and B-Boy) w/Julius Smokes vs The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli)
This is scheduled to be our opener, and Ian Rotten has said that this will be a showcase for the Tag Team division. The Tag Team Division will be very important in this promotion, and we are establishing the division’s foundations from the very beginning. With four talented teams and eight talented wrestlers, you can not only expect this to have a little bit of everything, but to be a fast and entertaining match. No hype needed here, this could be the showstealer.

Plus there will be loads more exciting action on this show, including an open challenge by Shiima Xion.

Well, I hope I have established my promotion to all of you reading, and in future columns, when the shows start, I hope you’ll start to really enjoy my little promotion. Of course, early on, I will admit that some things will confuse you: but hopefully when storylines start to come together you and you begin to realise all that is going on that you’ll like everything you see.
