Good afternoon all and welcome to the greatest armchair booking column in the history of the Internet Wrestling Community, The Fink’s Payload.

I would hope that the majority of you are familiar with how this works by now, but if not, go here.

So without further ado, onto the 151st edition of The Fink’s Payload!

Last Week’s Homework: Undo the damages done by TNA booking to Samoa Joe; make Joe a bad ass again.

And kicking us off this week is 411’s very own Dan Torkel!

Hey Man,
It’s fellow 411 writer Dan Torkel again. I had to contribute here as I simply don’t get the logic of Joe losing the strap especially to Sting. Since Joe was the 1st champ to retain in KOTM, I thought they would go strong and have him be the first to beat Sting at BFG.
Here is how you restore Joe is THE badass in pro-wrestling.
– Step one – Revenge on Nash

Following in tradition, the main event of Genesis is a 6-man tag team war that pits the Legends: Sting/Nash/Angle vs. New Generation: Joe/AJ/Jarrett. The bonus stipulation is, is the faces win they get 3 one on one matches at Turning Point. The faces would win here when Mick Foley runs down to distract Angle allowing Jarrett to pin him with a Guitar shot.

Turning Point – Due to the stipulation Joe gets Nash one on one in one of three triple main events (the others being AJ/Sting for the title and Angle/Foley who replaced Jarrett). Joe goes ballistic here! He gets himself DQ’ed for simply pummeling Nash’s knee with a chair, seemingly not caring. Sting, Booker, 3D, and Angle come out to pull Joe away but he is a crazed animal and fights away people with the chair. Finally Jim Cornette arrives with security and Joe is arrested “Austin-style” at the ppv.

On Impact, Cornette reveals that Samoa Joe will begin the new year suspended indefinitely due to his outrageous actions. Nash comes out in a wheelchair, claiming he threatened JJ he would sue TNA if Joe showed up. Jarrett is out and says that Joe is suspended without pay but his suspension ends at Final Resolution. There will be a Final Resolution to the Joe/Nash feud, and it will be a LAST MAN STANDING! He tells Nash to work his legs out because if he doesn’t show up to the ppv, he is in breach of contract and will be FIRED!!!

Final Resolution – Cornette tells the Legends and New Generation stables to stay out or risk suspension and fines. Nash utilizes weapons to bust Joe open and dominate early but Joe snaps and again destroys Nash’s legs leading towards 9 counts. He finally chokes Nash out and wins in a bloody massacre.

– Joe is out on Impact and says that Sting beat him at BFG and he gets no rematches. So his response is to take out every member of the Legends Club till Sting agrees to take him on. Booker comes out with his Legends Title (SPOILER). He says that Joe never beat him cleanly so if he wants to face a legend he can face HIM at Against All Odds. Joe says he’s on!

Against All Odds – Sting and Angle tell Booker to watch his back because Joe is on the warpath. AJ tries to calm Joe down, but Joe is hell bent on ripping through Booker and the rest of the Legends. In the match is goes back and forth but Booker stops to Spinaroonie allowing Joe to recover and SNAP! He brutalizes Booker with kicks and elbows (ala Brian Danielson) until Booker is busted open. He drops Booker with the Musclebuster but instead of covering, he continues reigning down elbows and kicks until the ref stops the match. Joe takes the Legends Title and smears it with Booker’s Blood. He shoves the ref and medics away and locks the choke in until Sting comes out and runs off Joe with a baseball bat.

– On Impact, Sting is irate saying that Joe has crossed the line. He disrespected the legends that made pro-wrestling, himself, Nash and Booker. Joe comes out with a still blood-stained Legends Title and tell Sting that he can change it all and quiet the madness by giving him his rematch. Sting says no because Joe will learn respect. Joe says Sting is a coward and he will never respect a coward. Kurt Angle and Team 3D come out to back up Sting. Joe laughs them off by showing the belt and asking where Nash and Booker are. Angle grabs the mic and tells Joe that he has always been the better man between them. He says since he is always challenging Legends, he has a challenge for Joe. 3 – 1, Angle and 3D vs. Joe. Joe say he agrees, if and ONLY IF Sting agrees to put up the gold should he win. Sting laughs and says no man can defeat 3 of the greatest ever by himself and agrees to the terms. Sting says he will even allow Joe to have one partner, if he could find anyone to tag with him against these 3 legends.

Destination X – Joe comes out alone and charges the ring. He goes after all 3 Legends but gets overwhelmed. The 3 beat him down but Joe fights back. He dumps 3D and tees off on Angle. He locks in the choke but 3D returns and the numbers get the better of him. The lights go out and when they turn on MICK FOLEY is in the ring. He is Joe’s partner! He Cactus clotheslines Angle to the floor and brawls with Angle outside. 3D sets for the… 3D but Joe dumps Devon out. Ray charges but Joe ducks and locks in the CLUTCH!!! Ray Taps!!! Joe gets the title shot against Sting!

Lockdown – Just like last year when Joe got his final revenge on Angle, it comes here. Title vs. Title (TNA World vs. Legends) in the 6-Sides of Steel. The Lethal Lottery has Angle, Booker and 3D vs. Foley, Jarrett, AJ and Cage. After a 20 minute bloodbath in the cage, Joe drops Sting with the Musclebuster and chokes out the Icon for the win and both titles!

Samoa Joe works the long road of revenge, goes through all the top Legends usually in bloody good form and once again reigns as TNA World Champion. That would lead to a Joe/AJ program where AJ gets the huge build towards greatness again.

Hope you enjoyed,
Dan Torkel

Yeah, I really like this. Joe targeting Nash is a smart move as it builds up anticipation for the inevitable Sting/Joe rematch. And Joe has to work really hard here in order to get that rematch. If it were me, I’d make that final encounter at Lockdown a Unification bout with the Legend’s title becoming defunct, thus signaling the end of the whole legends vs. new guys feud. But as I say, I think this is some really strong, smart booking. Good stuff.

Next up is Robert Carbone;

As you stated in your request – how do you make Joe a bad ass again. Feel free to edit this down as this is going to be long.

Sheik Abdul Bashir comes out and does his normal anti-USA speech and issues an open challenge. Consequences Creed comes out and Sheik says – no, you’ve gotten your chance. Creed says “I’m not here to wrestle you, I’m here to watch someone else kick your ass’,,, and out comes Joe. In about 3 minutes he destroys Sheik – muscle buster, kokina clutch – all his older moves. Joe is your new X Division champion.

Following week – we see Joe and Jay Lethal leaving Cornette’s office. We go inside his office and the place is torn apart and Cornette is white as a ghost (OK – more whiter than his normal ghostly appearance). Cornette comes to the ring and announces at the next PPV it will be Nash vs. Joe for the X Division championship. Oh, and since Jay Lethal won his right to an X Division championship match, Jay will get the right to face the winner – whenever he wishes to.

That sets up the PPV with Joe/Nash and basically Joe destroys Nash. Maybe goes 10 minutes and Joe chokes out Nash. But Joe stops the referee from counting Nash out. Rather – he signals to Jay Lethal to come down. Jay gets on the apron, and in a nod to Nash’s past – Jay gives Joe the “Finger Poke of Doom”. Joe falls over, places the hand of an unconscious Nash on his chest, and the confused ref counts the pin on Joe. Nash is your new X Division champion. But wait – Jay Lethal wants his match now. He calls over the ref – the ref rings the bell – Lethal climbs the ropes, big elbow – 1-2-3 on Nash – Lethal is your X-Division champ. Now Nash can get back into his X-Division role, but he starts losing to guys like Sabin and Super Eric.

Next step is for Joe to go after the new “Legends belt”. Almost the same kind of scenario – he chases Booker and quickly beats him convincingly at the following PPV. Comes out on Impact the following night and says while he’s honored to have been the first “TNA” wrestler to earn this belt, there is another “TNA” legend who deserves this as much as anyone in the locker room. Out comes AJ Styles and they have an impromptu match. It’s a clean match – holds and counter holds – an old school match between the two. But then – they stop, look at each other and smile. AJ lightly hits Joe in the stomach and he keels over. AJ busts out a Spin-a-roonie, and while Joe is getting up (with a grin on his face), AJ delivers a real weak axe kick, Joe drops and AJ becomes the new Legends Champion. This puts AJ into a program with Booker.

This leads to Joe then addressing Sting (who has dropped the belt to Jarrett). Joe tells Sting – looks like your old school boys are having some problems. I destroyed Nash and Booker, guess what Old Man – your next. Brothers Ray and Devon come down and call out Joe. Joe then destroys both of them. Sting – I want you – next week.

The following week – no Sting. But Mick Foley comes down. Mick says Joe – I’m thinking that Sting was right. You laid down in your match vs. Nash, you laid down in your match vs. AJ Styles. And while I appreciate what you are trying to do – you are disrecpting all of those wrestlers who’ve come before you. Joe says – yes, those were my TNA boys, and while I respect you Mick, you better get out of my face. Mick starts to leave, reaches in his pants and pulls out Mr. Socko. He attempts to put the mandible claw on him, but Joe catches him. Mick starts to beg off – can’t we be buddies. I knew another big Samoa guy and we ended being a great buddies – great friends. Joe looks at him, starts to twist his arm and pulls Mr. Socko off of Mick’s hand. He looks at the sock, looks at Mick (who he is still holding with his hand around the throat) and screams at him – I’m not your buddy, I’m not your friend, and I am NOT Dwayne Johnson. “I AM A WRESTLER, AND I AM TNA.” He then chokes out Mick – until AJ, Jarrett, Curry Man, Lethal – all of the long term TNA wrestlers come down to pull him off. After that is completed, Joe looks at his TNA compatriots – goes over to Curry Man and rips off his mask – IT’S CHRIS DANIELS. They all act shocked, then start laughing and celebrating. Crowd is going nuts – TNA! TNA! – with Joe as their leader. As that show is going off the air – we see Christian Cage watching on a monitor in the back with a big smile on his face. What that means….TBD.

Robert Carbone

I don’t know, man, this has many flaws in my book. First of all, you’ve made two of the TNA titles look like utter shit. In making Joe look like a bad ass, you’ve ended up making the X Division title more of a joke than it already is, as well as a couple of its competitors, and buried this new Legend’s Title. Bad move. I imagine Joe ripping off Curry Man’s mask to reveal Chris Daniels would be quite an awesome moment, but that’s the only positive thing I have to say, really. And what’s with making Foley look like some sort of pussy, begging for forgiveness or whatever? I doubt the crowd would go nuts at that point, just boo Joe more.

And now, here’s the part where I present my own ideas.

Having Joe simply kill a bunch of X Division guys isn’t good enough for me. Let’s start with Joe apologizing to Sting on Impact. Joe wants a handshake and nothing more, and gets it. The next week, he cuts a promo; he’s done whining and complaining. He’s done being pissed off; he wants to be happy. And he’s most happy when he’s killing bitches, dead. And he wants to start with the biggest bitch of them all: Nash.

Street Fight: Nash vs. Joe at Genesis – despite heel trickery from Nash, Joe walks out an easy winner, choking Nash out with the Clutch.

The next week on Impact, Joe says seeing as he can’t go after the World Title with Sting as champ, he’s going back to his roots. Later that night, Joe watches Sheik Abdul Bashir beat Jay Lethal in an X Division title match. The next week, Joe beats Lethal, Dutt and Creed in a 4-way to crown a number one contender for the X Division Championship.

At Turning Point, Bashir takes Joe to the limit, but Joe wins in around 18 minutes with the Clutch, becoming the new X Division Champion. The Prince Justice Brotherhood come out to celebrate with Joe, but he kills a bunch of bitches dead.

In the next few weeks, Joe beats Bashir in a rematch, Dutt in a non-title match and Super Eric. The PJB try to take out Joe again, but he fights them off until Curry Man goes low and drills him with… Angel’s Wings! Curry Man unmasks, and Christopher Daniels is revealed.

Daniels and Joe face off at Final Resolution. They go twenty minutes before Joe locks in the Clutch. Daniels doesn’t tap but passes out, and Joe retains. They continue to feud, clashing in an 30-Minute Iron Man match at Against All Odds. That match ends 0-0 though, so they go to Destination X.

On that same night, Sting loses the World Championship to AJ Styles in a match also involving Christian Cage and Kurt Angle. Joe and Daniels go one-on-one in Ultimate X, with the steel structure being used as opposed to the ropes. It’s a brutal match (that goes on last). Joe is inching towards the title on top of the structure when the lights go out. When they come back on, Sting is on the structure and drills Joe with the bat, sending him crashing to the mat. Daniels picks up the win and the title from there.

Sting feels his reign wasn’t legitimate because Joe dominated Sting at Bound For Glory and Sting screwed him. Sting never beat Joe one-on-one, cleanly. Sting says Joe earned his respect over the past few months with the way he made the X Division awesome again. But the fact that Sting couldn’t beat Joe was eating away at him. Sting says he’s right here, and he wants a match with Joe.

Joe comes out to accept, and a match for Lockdown is booked. Joe plays mind games with Sting over the next few weeks, refusing to get into a physical altercation when Sting is begging for it, but showing up to cost Sting matches. Joe wins at Lockdown and goes after the World Championship again. Joe meets AJ at Sacrifice in May and wins the title for the second time, but after the match he drops the title on the mat, and says he doesn’t want it.

Joe then reasserts himself into the X Division title picture and faces Christopher Daniels at Slammiversary , reclaiming the X Division gold. The World title is held vacant going into Slammiversary’s King of the Mountain match – with Matt Morgan winning the gold for the first time. Joe holds onto the X Division strap for many months, but eventually drops it to Kaz (do you like how I just made two new stars in the same paragraph?). Hey, it’s fantasy booking.
