Good afternoon all and welcome to the greatest armchair booking column in the history of the Internet Wrestling Community, The Fink’s Payload.

I would hope that the majority of you are familiar with how this works by now, but if not, go here.

So without further ado, onto the 152nd edition of The Fink’s Payload!

Last Week’s Homework: Book Edge’s return to WWE action – who does he feud with, is he a heel or a face, will he regain the WWE Championship or renew his feud with ‘Taker, etc?

Kicking us off this week is Todd Vote;

Sunday, October 26, 2008:
Cyber Sunday happens, Shelton Benjamin beats R-Truth to retain his title when Chavo for an unknown reason…. Undertaker beats Big Show in a knock out match with the gogoplata. However since Vickie still has the move banned, she immediately reverses the decision, giving Show the win. Evan Bourne comes up short in his match with Matt Hardy, and is made fun of by Chavo in the back.. Brawl ensues.. with Chavo and Bam beating Bourne down.
Jeff Hardy obviously wins the fan voting to get the WWE title shot, and finally looks to have Triple H put away when Koslov (Now apparently aligned with Vickie and crew), Big Show, Chavo, and Bam run out and beat down both guys ending the match in a no contest. The beatdown continues till R-Truth and Evan Bourne run out to save… As they jump into the ring, the lights go out and we hear a gong, as the PPV goes off the air.

Smackdown 10/31/2008: Show opens with exclusive footage of what happened after the PPV went off the air.. Nothing much, the heels pretty much cleared the ring once the lights went out.

Cut to Shelton Benjamin in Vickies office inquiring about Chavo’s interference in his match at the past PPV. Vickie states that she has had an eye on Shelton since he won the title, and she wants to offer him a spot in her stable, Chavo’s interference on his behalf was simply to show that Vickie takes care of her boys. Shelton says he will need some time to think about it. Vickie says he has till the top of the hour, because she will be making an announcement, so she needs to know where he stands.

Opening match puts R-Truth & Bourne against Chavo and Bam Neely. Shelton jumps R-Truth before he gets into the ring, effectively answering Vickie’s question. Yes, he is in. Bourne has to go at it alone, and puts up a great fight, but ultimately fails to beat the combined might of Chavo & Bam. Jeff Hardy runs out to stop any further beating on Bourne.

Vicki Guerrero announces that at Survivor Series, There will be a traditional 5 vs 5 match which will feature Vicki’s boys against against a team that refuses to do business her way.

The face team is comprised of Triple H, Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, R-Truth, and Evan Bourne.

The Heels: Big Show, Chavo, Vladimir Koslov, Shelton Benjamin, and an opponent to be named on the night of the event.

Immediately following this we are treated to an Edge DVD commercial.

Main event sees Koslov handily defeat Jeff Hardy once again.

Smackdown 11/07/08:
Tonight the team of Shelton Benjamin, Chavo, and Bam will take on Evan Bourne, R-Truth, and Jeff Hardy.
Finish sees Bourne pin Bam.

After this match we get another preview for Edge’s DVD…

In addition Triple H will put his title on the line against Big Show. Which never even gets started as we see Taker and show brawling in the back. Haitch watches the screen and is almost smiling as Taker gets the best of Show. H’s turns around to get a headbutt in the stomach from Koslov…

Raw 11/10/08: This week Charlie Haas’ impersonation is none other than the Rated Haas Superstar Charlie Haas. Crowd pops huge for the music, thinking it is the real Edge. Haas is once again dismantled by JBL, but not before hitting a spear and an Edgucution on JBL.

Smackdown 11/14/2008:
Match scheduled to feature Triple H, R-Truth, and Jeff Hardy vs. Koslov, Shelton Benjamin, and Chavo and for laughs Evan Bourne will face off against the Big Show.

Top of the second hour and the heels all make their entrances for the 6 man tag. We hear R-truth’s music begin to play, but he doesn’t show… We hear Jeff Hardy’s music and out he comes, looking a bit confused… Finally Triple H enters, and him and Jeff talk at the bottom of the ramp… JR says we have something going on in the back and we cut to the back to see R-Truth bleeding a bit out of his head and laying in a pile of boxes.

Back from commercial and Vickie is out and talking about how the 5th member of her team is finally making his presence felt. She says that if H & Hardy can’t find a 3rd partner the match will continue as a handicap match. She is no sooner done talking when we hear Takers familiar gong… He is now the 3rd member of the face team.

Taker starts with Koslov and neither man is able to hurt the other… Good back and forth match. Finish sees Koslov get a rare pinfall over Taker after delivering the headbutt of DOOM!!

Big Show dismantles Bourne in the main event. Show closes with both teams filling the ring for a brawl..

SmackDown! 11/21/08:
Video package for Edge’s DVD that has the music for SS playing in the background… Video is shown till about half way through then abruptly cut off so as to look like a goof on the part of production. Immediately after this is stopped, we get both a promo video for Edges DVD with Edges theme music playing, then we get a Survivor Series hype video with the theme music in hopes of building excitement, and maybe a few people will draw the conclusion that Edge is the mystery partner.

Vickie Guerrero is in the ring, and says that each member of the Face team will face off with someone tonight… But she is not telling of opponents before the matches…

1st match: Vickie calls out Evan Bourne for the match he will have. She tells Evan that he tried his hardest again Big Show last week, and this week will be no different, as he will face off with The Great Kahli. Bourne gets in plenty of offense, but ultimately falls to the Vice grip… After the match Vickie can be heard screaming to Kahli to finish Bourne off. Kahli refuses, and offers Bourne a hand in getting up Kahli shakes his hand and leaves the ring.

2nd match: Vickie calls out Jeff Hardy.. She tells him his opponent tonight will be MVP, who Jeff handily defeats.

Vickie’s SS team is in the ring, and Big Show has the mic: He talks about finally being able to rid Smackdown of two cancers that plague the locker room in Triple H and Taker. He passes the mic off to Shelton Benjamin who talks about R-Truth, Chavo gets his jabs in at R-Truth, and Jeff Hardy, and Evan Bourne…

3rd match: Vickie calls out Undertaker and tells him he will have a handicapped match against the Edge Heads. In what looks to be another production goof, the Edge heads enter to Edge’s theme music. They look confused after about 10 seconds the music changes to their own theme. Taker wins here by DQ.

Main Event of the evening: Vickie calls out Triple H.. She tells him that his opponent will be R-Truth. H’s is livid at this announcement. R-Truth comes through the crowd, looking just as confused as the H’s seems to be. Vickie tells them that they will wrestle after the commercial break and if either of them half asses it they will be suspended till after Survivor Series…

The two deliver an exciting back and forth match lasting nearly 20 minutes with neither guy being able to put away the other…. Finally Trips looks to have the Pedigree setup when Team Vickie rush the ring to take advantage of the two worn out Superstars…
Show ends with Vickie’s team standing tall over the entirety of Trips team for the Survivor Series.

Survivor Series 11/23/2008:
Evan Bourne is found layed out and bloody at the beginning of the PPV, so Vickie announces that her 5th man will not be needed, and the match will go on as a 4 on 4 affair.

Sometime before the match we listen in on Vickie with a phone conversation. She is talking something about a promised title shot.. She says she knows she promised him one for his help….but his help is no longer needed.. He just did his job to well, and he is not needed anymore. Vickie is then heard saying something along the lines of a garaunteed victory could still get this mystery man his title shot…

The match goes off as 4 on 4, and I will just touch on key eliminations till the final two…
Shelton Benjamin is eliminated by R-Truth, Chavo Guerrero is eliminated by Jeff hardy…R-Truth and Jeff Hardy are both eliminated by Koslov….
We are down to two on two… Taker in now, as is Big Show… Show and Taker can’t be contained by the ring and a double countout ensues, leaving us with a one on one match.

Koslov and Trips go back and forth for about 5 minutes, when the typical Ref bump happens. During this, Edge makes his grand return… The crowd is shocked, and Edge enters the ring, and Spears Triple H…He then throws Koslov on top for the 3 count… Edge gets a mic and looks to the ramp. Vickie is there clapping and smiling.. Edge asks if that makes him number 1 contender…Vickie says yes, so Edge helps up Koslov… Edge then hits a spear on Koslov as well.

SmackDown! 11/28/2008:
Edge is in ring, crowd is chanting welcome back… Edge says it is good to be back.. He runs down Triple H and the state of SmackDown in his absence… Calling the show a disgrace… He runs down Vickie, and her method of running the show, citing unfair stackin of the deck… Well she won’t be using him as her pawn anymore. He did what he did to get a title shot, nothing more… He would have just as easily handed the match to Triple H, if it would have bore the same results. He doesn’t care if people hate him.. He doesn’t care if people love him. He did what he had to do to get what he wanted…

From here Edge calls out The Edge heads. He said he lost track of things, by bringing Vickie and Chavo into the fold with the three of them.. Edge even goes so far as to apologize for his actions. The Edge Heads seem to be content with accepting his apology and getting the band back together, as the three embrace in a group hug…

That brings Edge to his next order of business. Triple H and his WWE championship. He thanks the Game for keeping the title warm for him, but warns that he is coming for it. But he wants it back, and at Armageddon he will challenge The Game for the title.

Out comes Vickie Guerrero… She says it is great that he is the number one contender… But that doesn’t give him carte blanche to start booking his own matches… She goes on to say that the great thing about a #1 contenders spot is it can be taken away… So don’t think for one second that you are marching into Armageddon and into a title match… Someone has something to say about that. Edge and the Rmy are then attacked by Vickies soldiers…

Vickie announces that at Armageddon Edge will put his #1 contenders status on the line against Vladimir Koslov, and Jeff Hardy, with the winner getting a title shot at the Royal Rumble. Once Vickie and crew leave, we hear the music of Triple H… Triple H and the rest of the Face team come out to the ring, they take their turn beating Edge and his Rmy… After this Triple H grabs the mic and offers Edge a sarcastic “welcome back”

At Armageddon Edge wins his title shot, after the Rmy distracted Koslov and Hardy… Edge wins the title at the Rumble and goes to WM to defend against the winner of the Royal Rumble, Jeff Hardy.

With this scenario Edge gets to keep his dick head heel personality, while also separating himself from Vickie, and possibly setting himself up as a truly heelish tweener.

-Toddo

The key thing here is that you have managed to maintain Edge’s heel persona, insert him back into the title picture and ensured that continuity isn’t forgot as he is still at odds with Vickie Guerrero. I like the idea of Guerrero recruiting guys for he Survivor Series team, and the way you’ve put R-Truth and Evan Bourne in the spotlight by involving them in such a high profile rivalry. That said, I feel that the whole mystery fifth man, backstage attacks and messed up video packages would be a little bit over the top, far-fetched and maybe even a bit confusing. On the other hand, you’ve done a good job of keeping guessing and on their toes. All round, I like this idea.

And seeing as I don’t have enough time to present my own idea, closing the show today is Steve Ivanovski;

Cyber Sunday- Big Show beats down Undertaker in last man standing match. After the match Chavo, Bam Neely and Vicky continue to beat on Taker. This sets up a 5 on 5 survior series match as Big Show/Chavo/Bam Neely/Hawkins/Ryder, take on Undertaker/Primo Colon/Carlito Colon/R-Truth, and a returning Mr. Kennedy.

Survior Series- Since Kennedy isn’t really ready to return to the ring, early on at Survior Series, we see Kennedy laying face down in the back and the Colons chasiing off Neely and Chavo. It looks like Undertakers team is already down one member. During the match Taker elimantes Ryder early on but then Primo gets elimanited by Neely, followed by Carlito. Show then elimates R-Truth. That leaves Taker vs Show/Chavo/Hawkins. Undertaker elimantes Chavo and Hawkins but Show gets in the ring and starts to pummel Taker. After Show sets up for the knockout punch Taker ducks and hits the chokeslam on Show. Vicky takes out the ref with a chair shot, and goes to hit Undertaker. When taker sees Vicky with the chair he drops show, and goes after Vicky and has her in the chokelam position. By now Big Show is up and he has the chair that Vicky had. All of the sudden Edge comes from the crowd like a bat out of hell. He SPEARS shows out of his boots, and Undertaker choke slams Vicky. Undertaker pins Show to win it for his team.

Smackdown- Edge comes out and says that there is no love loss between him and Undertaker but he had to do what he had to do because there is a TON of love loss between him and Vicky. He can never trust her again after the hell in the cell match at SummerSlam. He is going to make it his lifes work to make her life a living hell.

Edge needs to come back as a face as I think HHH is getting ready to turn full heel soon.

Steve Ivanovski

Bringing Edge back as a face is always going to be tricky to pull off – I imagine people are willing to cheer him, but you don’t want to alter his character too much either. This ideas gets it just right – Edge’s only goal is to screw over Guerrero. I like the way you set up that spear, with the tease that Edge would take out Taker to prevent the chokeslam, only for him to nail Show. I have nothing bad to say about this idea.
