UPDATED: WWE Confirms that Ric Flair Will be at Hall of Fame Ceremony

March 27, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

UPDATE 2: Sources within WWE say that the deal between WWE and TNA for Ric Flair to attend the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was finished up yesterday. The issue had nothing to do with Flair’s attendance, but rather Flair appearing on a WWE broadcast of WrestleMania, subsequent WWE Hall of Fame highlights broadcasts and the DVD release as a contracted TNA talent. Flair was at last year’s ceremony but wasn’t specifically shown during the broadcast or DVD release.

It isn’t currently known what terms were agreed on whether TNA will be mentioned on the Hall of Fame broadcast. TNA representatives and officials will not be present.

UPDATE: Ric Flair issued a press release through his management company about his appearance at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. The press release notes that the induction caused “a firestorm of controversy” because of his exmployment with TNA and says that “TNA is graciously supporting him in the decision to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony alongside his fellow inductees.”

Dixie Carter is quoted in the press release as saying, “We are proud of Ric’s many accomplishments and contributions he has made to the world of professional wrestling and beyond. We wish to congratulate him on yet another honor he truly deserves.”

Flair himself comments as well: “Being inducted once was one of the greatest accomplishments of my career, so I’m humbled and honored to be recognized again. I wouldn’t miss the ceremony for the world.”

ORIGINAL: WWE has confirmed that Ric Flair will be at the Hall of Fame ceremony. The promotion has been advertising Flair since tickets went on salke in January but have officially announced via WWE.com that Flair will be there to be inducted as part of the Four Horseman along with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, and J.J. Dillon.

The article doesn’t mention Flair’s current work for TNA and says he retired after losing to Shawn Michaels.
