More Details on Rey Mysterio’s Wellness Violation

May 3, 2012 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Rey Mysterio tested positive for amphetamines of February 13th, when WWE Raw was in San Diego. This was his second violation of the wellness policy, and Mysterio is now out on a 60-day suspension. Mysterio won’t be eligible to return until June 25th, and it is estimated that he will lose $166,667 in pay. He also missed out on a possible WrestleMania payday.

When Mysterio failed his test, was told to submit all the medications and supplements he was taking at the time for evaluation. There is a theory that one of the weight-loss dietary supplements Mysterio was taking to get back into ring shape might have contained traces of amphetamines.

Shortly after his test, there was a lot of talk of frustration with him in the company to the point that he would not be getting any kind of push when he returns. Writers had been told not to waste time coming up with angles for his return in March, but at the time no reason was given. Only a small amount of people within the company would have known about he test failure as the doctors were evaluating the volition.
