411’s WWE Main Event Report 5.08.13

Hello and welcome! It’s Michael Benjamin here and you’re about to join me for another WWE Main Event report! Cesaro has been given the opportunity to wrestle Orton in a “reward” from management for his excellent match with Kingston last week. Are they just realizing Cesaro can wrestle? Plus, we have a 3MB six man tag and I never complain about that. Soooooo…

– Then. Now… and what? Oh yeah, FOREVER!!!!

Randy Orton vs. Antonio Cesaro They grapple to start and have a clean break. They try again and Cesaro locks in a side headlock. Orton reverses into a head scissors and we’re back to a stalemate. I’m getting good vibes from the opening. We get some Irish whips, we got some clotheslines, and Orton comes out on top with an elbow to the face. He delivers his vintage stomp to every limb and Cesaro kicks out at one and a half. Orton picks him up and hits a pretty suplex for two. Cesaro makes it to his feet and manages to corner Orton, as he delivers a bevy of shoulder blocks and kicks to the stomach. He hits Orton with a hard right hand as we head to break.

-Commercial Break-

Cesaro is in control as we return from break. During the break, Cesaro shoved a top rope Orton to the outside to gain control. Cole continues to call Cesaro a throwback… I think he’s just an amazing wrestler. I’ve watched thirty years worth of wrestling and I don’t get it. Cesaro hits a HUGE running elbow to Orton in the corner and covers him for two. The announcers put over Cesaro’s workout regimen. I can’t deny that. He’s so fucking strong from what I’ve seen. Cesaro beats on Orton on the outside, giving him a face full of barricade before rolling in. Orton gets in by eight and Cesaro locks in a sleeper hold. Orton fights out and hits a few uppercuts. Cesaro fights back with elbows but Orton clotheslines him to the mat, followed by a powerslam. Orton goes for the DDT off of the middle rope but Cesaro switches positions and chokes Orton over the top rope. He attempts a belly to back suplex off the apron but Orton fights off with some elbows to the jaw! Orton sends Cesaro face first into the barricade and both men are out as we head to another commercial.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Cesaro in control. He goes for an axe handle off of the top rope but Orton hits him with a dropkick in mid-air! TWOOOOO. Orton fights back with a back breaker and only gets two. Cesaro hits a nice suplex and only gets two. These guys are just exchanging impressive moves and pinfall attempts at this point. Cesaro goes upstairs but Orton gives him a superplex off the top! Orton goes for a cover and only gets two! Orton gets him in the corner and charges, but Cesaro catches him with an uppercut and locks in an armbar. Orton reaches the ropes! Orton fights back and hits his assisted DDT off of the middle rope. He signals for the RKO! Cesaro pushes him off and catches him with an elevated uppercut! TWOOOO! That was a great near fall. Cesaro goes for the Gotch Neutralizer but Orton hits the RKO out of nowhere for the win! This was good but it wasn’t as good as I was hoping for. Still though, Cesaro continues his streak of delivering every time he’s called upon.

– We get a recap of the Cena/Ryback segment from Raw. Ryback chooses a Last Man Standing match because Cena doesn’t care what the stipulation is. If Cena can put on a **** match with JBL in an “I Quit” match, he can pull a good match out of Ryback as well. Check out Extreme Rules: Instant Access for all of the deetz after the show!

– Next up, they air a recap of Lesnar trashing HHH’s office. I really liked this segment and loved the behind the scenes look at WWE Headquarters (yeah, I’m still a mark).

– Gabriel says that last week, Slater challenged him to find two suitable partners for a six man tag. Well, he found them in the form of the Usos.

-Commercial Break-

Justin Gabriel and The Usos vs. 3MBJinder and Jey start us off. Jinder slams Jey’s head into the top turnbuckle and Jey just no sells it and hollers the first syllable of his last name… Lame. McIntyre and Jimmy are in now. They exchange chops and Drew hits a shoulder block. He hits the ropes and Jimmy knocks him down with a shoulder block. Jimmy gives him a scoop slam and the Uso’s deliver a weak version of the Death Sentence, as Jey uses a forearm instead of a leg drop. He proceeds to lock in a headlock and Jinder whips him to the outside. Main event is going to roll on after this!

-Commercial Break-

Mahal and Jey brawl a bit before Mahal tags in Slater. I HATED Slater at the beginning but man, his heel shtick has really grown on me. Slater locks in a sleeper and transforms that into a side headlock. Jey fights out and grabs a roll up for two. Slater catches him with side kick for two. Jey sends Slater into the ring post. In comes Jimmy Uso and Drew McIntyre. Jimmy hits him with a couple of clotheslines followed by a Samoan Drop. TWOOOOOO. Drew hits a jaw breaker and Jimmy tags in Gabriel. Gabez is on fire with a plethora of clotheslines and crossbodies. Gabriel goes over the top rope and delivers a cross body to all three Usos. They catch Gabriel, but Jimmy jumps over top and knocks them all down! Jey kicks every member of 3MB out with a superkick before Gabriel hits a tornado DDT. Gabriel hits the 450 and it’s over. This was the definition of a cookie cutter six man tag and nothing stood out whatsoever. The faces stand tall to end the show after a pretty boring match.

OVERALL: Main Event was alright tonight. Antonio Cesaro and Randy Orton under-delivered and the six man tag was as “paint by numbers” as you can get. There’s nothing to go out of your way for here, folks. Oh yeah, follow me on Twitter @MikeBenjamin411!!!
