    WWE Smackdown Begins…NOW!

    -WWE Smackdown
    -11.10.06
    -Columbus Ohio

-The King of the World and YOUR Champion of Champions, King Booker along with Queen Sharmell make their way to the ring. Pinky up to be fancy in the presence of the King! The King is on the mic and has some words for the peasants in Ohio. He conquered all the champions as he marched into Cyber Sunday. He is now a hero and a legend, the Champion of Champions. He defeated the rouge that is John Cena and the giant Ogre The Big Show. He defeated them like he defeated them all. Alexander the Great wept when he had no other lands to conquer, as he weeps today.

-Thaddeus Long makes his was out to the ring with photographers. Thaddeus is here to stop the tears. On behalf of Smackdown and its fans, he congratulates him. The King thanks us all. Thaddeus wants to get some nice photos of him, and Thaddeus gets in on the pictures. Thaddeus then says there is one other thing. A lot of people were gunning for him, and last week there was one man that protected him and the title. He owes him a favor, and that is Batista. The King says he needed no help, and Thaddeus agreed that he is the champion but he owes Batista and to pay him back, Batista gets a shot at the World Title at Survivor Series. The King goes back to street mode and Thaddeus then says he is the champion right now, but he may not be at Survivor Series because he has a match right now…against Bobby Lashley!

  • Fine match to kick off the show this week. These guys have jelled pretty well and this was entertaining. The only gripe I have is that there was no hype for the match, not even a one-week build. But that is a small complaint. See you this Tuesday Bobby? (**½ )

-A video package runs, explaining why Finlay and Batista are battling this week.

-MVP and Teddy meet backstage. Teddy is about to watch See No Evil. He hypes the extras. MVP complains about last week and that Teddy misused his authority. Teddy says next week it will be Kane vs. MVP in a street fight.

Side effect to Helms! Rights to Sylvan. Irish whip and a running clothesline connects. Rights to Helms, sets him up top…Matt follows… Sylvan over and Matt tosses him out, Yang with a springboard leg lariat to the floor. TOP ROPE TWIST OF FATE to Helms! 1…2…3!

Winners: Hardy and Yang @ 8:00 via pin

  • The match was the natural evolution from last week, so that is good as far as continuity goes. Damn fine little tag match here, Hardy looked great and even Sylvan looked good in there with everyone. Good deal. (*** )

    -Kennedy walks.

-More video history on Finlay vs. Batista.

-Mr. Kennedy makes his way to the ring. Kennedy says he is the future. MISTAAAAAAAAA KENNNEDDAAAAAAY! KENNNEDDDDAAAAAAAAY! In 1990 Taker debuted at Survivor Series. He has had 15-years of destruction, it is impressive. What is more impressive is me. Never before has anyone defeated 4-former world champions. Many people agree that I have become bigger than Smackdown itself. I just wanted to prove that by going to ECW or Raw, but I wasn’t allowed. One man got in my way. The Undertaker. Well Deadman, I refuse to sit by and watch you ruin my legacy before it begins. Oh no. Which is why I want you to come out here right now. I want you to come out here and answer my challenge. In 1990 your career began at Survivor Series…and in 2006 your career will end. He dares Taker to come out and play.

-GONG…GONG…Taker makes his way to the ring. Low blow by Kennedy and then he nails Taker repeatedly with the mic. Kennedy busts Taker open. He yells at Taker and Taker gets a goozle, but Kennedy keeps beating him down and more blood pours. Taker is laid out and gets a “Kennedy” for his trouble. More rights to Benoit, Irish whip and Benoit bounces out of the corner and to the mat. Clubbing shots and a cover for 2 by KC. Snap mare and a neckvice by KC. Benoit escapes and KC with rights again. Cutthroat sign and Benoit goes up top…head butt to KC. Crossface by Benoit…he clubs at KC and reapplies…and young KC taps.

Winner: Chris Benoit @ 3:27 via pin

  • Fine little match for what time it was allowed. I question having James take the loss though. His team has been losing and if he and Idol are to have any credibility left they need the occasion win and not to be treated as enhancement. James has a ton of potential though I will say, and I still dig the guy. (*¼)

-Highlights of Batista on Smallville. JT just got wood.

-Cole and JBL discuss Batista and his battle with Finlay.

The Boogey Man vs. TJ Dalton

Boogey Man attacks. TJ is afraid. He has worms in his mouth, head butt to TJ. Double choke bomb and that is all. Way too long.

Winner: The Boogey Man @ 1:25 via pin

-More worm crap after the match.

  • Yeah… (BLAH)

    -Raw Rebound stuff.

-Krystal confronts Miz about the Boogey Man. Miz shush’s her and says not to worry because he is challenging Boogey Man for next week to make it up to her. He isn’t afraid of Boogey Man and he is going to get him…HOO-RAH!

-More video hype for Batista vs. Finlay.

-Finlay and makes his way to the ring.

-Batista’s buzz cut makes it’s way to the ring.

    Batista vs. Finlay

Lock up and Batista tosses Finlay down. And the same again. Boot by Finlay, headlock on Batista…off the ropes and a shoulder tackle by Batista. Chokes Finlay, boots by Finlay but he walks into a big boot from bog Dave. Irish whip and a clothesline, is that racial with an Irishman in the match? Batista slams Finlay down and then tosses him to the floor. Batista follows and nails Finaly. Clothesline by Batista on the floor and back into the ring to celebrate, we head to commercial @ 2:15.

Back from commercial @ 5:44 with the bear hug applied by Batista. Finlay tries to escape, but Batista holds on. Rights by Finlay, Batista tosses him to the corner and then gets some back elbows. Boot to the throat of Finlay in the corner and a break. Irish whip and a backdrop by Batista. Slam down, catapult and Finlay bounces off the ropes and Batista holds on so Finlay’s back falls on the knees of Batista. Nice. Slam by Batista as he works the back more now. Finlay pulls him to the floor and the Finlay leaps off the apron and eats a big boot from Batista. Little bastard appears and nails Batista in the knee with the SHACKALACKI~! As Batista come sin Finlay traps Batista in the ropes and works the knee. Little bastard out to rake the eyes of Batista! GET HIM! Finlay lays the boots to Batista and then attacks the knee, as he wrenches it on the ropes. Finlay slams the leg off the apron, to the corner and then off the steel post. Boots by Finlay, and then wraps the leg in the ropes and kicks away at it. More kicks by Finlay, Batista tries to fight back but a drop toehold and knee bar by Finlay. Half STF now by Finlay as he continues the assault on the knee. Finlay with a standing figure four now on Batista, very nice. Batista fights to escape, Finlay releases and pounds away on the leg of Batista. Knee drops to the knee and into the knee bar. Batista with rights to escape and then kicks him off. More kicks by Finlay, drop downs on the knee by Finlay. Batista kicks him off and Finlay hits the steel post in the corner. Elbows by Finlay. Shoulder rams in the corner by Batista. Sets Finlay up top…Muscle Buster by Batista. Questionable after 7-minutes of work on the knee, but ok. They exchange rights, off the ropes and a clothesline by Batista. Off the ropes and a corner clothesline by Batista. Powerslam by Batista. Grabs Finlay, who nails the knee. Boot by Batista and a spear on Finlay. Cover by Batista 1…2…no. Forearms by Batista, off the ropes, kick by Finlay…off the ropes and a Bossman type slam by Batista. King Booker is down, Batista is distracted, and Finlay charges and nails Booker, spinebuster by Batista 1…2…3,

Winner: Batista @ 16:00 via pin

  • Good main event this week. This is the bet Batista has looked in a while. He sold pretty well and didn’t forget about that, Finlay’s work was stellar as always. Only complaint is that the ending was a bit anti-climatic. (***)

The Tremendous Tirade: By God we had a “rasslin show” this week kids! Good opener with Lashley and King Booker, followed by the really fun tag match between Hardy/Yang vs. Helms and Sylvan. I say make them tag teams and drop the Cruiser title since they aren’t doing shit with it. MVP vs. Kane next week, yawn. Eddie’s Estate? Fuck WWE. They finally they did something right with Kennedy and let him get the upper hand, after all he IS the heel and needs some credibility. Benoit got time on TV as the champ as KC James continues to impress, but needs a win soon before people think he and Idol are nothing but jobbers. Boogey Man, next. Miz vs. Boogey Man next week…oy. I really liked the video packaged all night to build to Finlay vs. Batista. It added to the build of the match very well, and when it was time the crowd was into it. I haven’t cared much for Batista lately, but tonight made me not want to change the channel and kept me into it. Whether they can keep me interested is another thing. After 2-weeks of very BLAH programming, Smackdown rebounds and gets a thumbs up this week for the wrestling alone.
