  • Live from San Jose, Cali.
  • Your hosts are Joey Styles and Taz.

  • Money in the Bank Qualifier: Mr. Kennedy vs. Sabu.
Kennedy slams Sabu but misses an elbow drop. Sabu tries his springboard back elbow, but Kennedy counters to a backdrop. Nice. Sabu tries it again and grazes Kennedy. He sells it anyway and rolls to the floor. Sabu hits a rolling plancha and sets Kennedy on a table. Kennedy rolls off the table to avoid a dive, so Sabu just dives over the table onto him. Sabu goes for the Triple-Jump Moonsault, but Kennedy trips him up, sending his face right into the chair. Kennedy hits the Facewash for two. Kennedy tosses the table in, but Sabu cuts him off with a legdrop. He sets up Kennedy against a table and goes for the legdrop, but Kennedy moves and finishes with the DDT at 5:00. I don’t think Kennedy was that motivated, but he should be the odds-on favorite to win the title shot. **

  • Vince McMahon arrives at the arena.
  • Balls Mahoney vs. Matt Striker.
Balls has shaved off his skaggy beard, which may spell a heel turn. Balls jabs away at Striker and hits a guillotine legdrop, drawing Snitsky out to destroy him for the DQ at 0:44. And there’s a big boot for Striker, just to show that Snitsky is a psychopath. [N/R]

  • Vince turns tonight’s title match into a beat the clock, and if Lashley doesn’t win in less than five minutes, Bob Holly is your new ECW Champion.
  • Rob Van Dam & Rob Van Dam (w/The Sandman) vs. Marcus Cor Van & Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel & Elijah Burke).
Van Dam hits Thorn with a springboard crossbody off the bat, and the Originals doubleteam Thorne. Cor Van interferes from the outside, and Thorn is able to come back. The heels isolate Dreamer until Tommy hits Cor Van with a DDT. Both guys tag out, and Van Dam cleans house. The split-legged moonsault gets two on “the follower of vampirism.” Rolling Thunder gets one before Cor Van makes the save. Dreamer takes out Cor Van, and Van Dam goes up. Ariel tries to sneak in Thorn’s walking stick, but she gets spanked by the Sandman’s cane. The ref is still distracted, though, so Burke crotches Van Dam on the top, and Thorn finishes with the Dark Kiss at 4:21. Good booking near the end. Action-packed for as short as it was. **1/4

  • Holly assures us he can’t be beat inside of five minutes.
  • CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards.
Finally, we get some closure on Richards’ appearance in ROH two years ago. This is a match TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING! Well, okay, the WWE probably didn’t care about that, but I did. Richards attacks at the bell and aggressively goes after Punk’s neck. Punk kicks out of a neck twist and rolls Richards up for two. Richards kicks Punk in the face, but Punk blocks a superplex and hits a flying clothesline. Richards counters the bulldog, but Punk finishes with the Go2Sleep at 3:19. *1/2

  • Extreme Expose…with three-way kiss. Hmm.
  • ECW World Title, Beat-the-Clock Cage Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Hardcore Holly.
In a “well, I feel old” moment, Styles calls Holly a 14-year veteran in the WWE. Lashley pummels Holly and stops to look at the clock…20 seconds in. Holly blocks a charge and goes up, but Lashley catches him as Umaga interrupts. Holly gives Lashley a superplex as Umaga tears apart the announce position. Umaga tosses in a chair, which Holly uses to BLAST Lashley. That gets two. Holly is already busted open for some reason I must have missed. Lashley suddenly gets pissed and explodes, beating the crap out of Holly with the chair. The powerslam finishes at 4:25. Umaga stands outside the cage, barking at Lashley in Samoan, so Lashley hits the opposite ropes and throws himself into the cage, knocking over the cage wall and squashing Umaga with it. HOLY SHIT! Both guys are out of it as we go off the air. *1/2

The 411: Probably the best ECW episode of the year so far. Punk is back on track, and Lashley now looks like the badass that he’s supposed to be. Hopefully, they actually give these guys a chance to mature on their own rather than just bumping them up to Raw or Smackdown as is the rumored plan.
