BG Says: FIP Southern Justice

Southern Justice

October 14, 2006 – Bushnell, Florida

When we last left FIP
The Briscoe Brothers and the Black Market both won number one contenders’ matches, only to be told by So Cal Val that they’d have to face each other tonight to get a match wit the champs. The Black Market kidnapped Val in response. Matt Sydal made his way to Florida and defeated DP Associate Shingo. Davey Richards beat Roderick Strong to earn a title shot on this show and then teamed with his opponent to take on Bryan Danielson & Cyber Kong.

Your hosts are Dave Prazak & Jared David

Canadian Cougar VS. Jaison Moore
They lock up and Moore grabs a wristlock. They knuckle up and Moore boots the Cougar in the gut. The Cougar hits a pair of armdrags and Moore bails. The Cougar follows him out with a somersault from the apron. Back in the ring the Cougar comes off the top rope with a crossbody for 2. Moore hits a knee to the gut and a cannonball in the corner for 2. He hits a falcon arrow for 2. He hits a fall away slam and sets the Cougar up top. The Cougar fights him off and comes down with a dropkick. He hits a northern lights suplex and puts on a cross armbreaker for the win at 4:59. If they’re willing to let Moore tap out immediately when his arm hasn’t been touched during the match why are they bothering to book him at all? This match was actually one of his better efforts.
Rating: *¾

Steve MadisonChasyn Rance VS. ”ErickSal Rinauro
Stevens attacks Rance and Madison before the match to keep them from insulting Bushnell’s vaginitis condition any further. Rance and Rinauro start. Rance ducks a clothesline and puts on a wristlock. He puts on a headlock but Sal counters to a hammerlock and does a chicken dance. That is getting so tired. Stevens and Madison tag in. Stevens grabs a headlock and hits a Manhattan drop. He hits a bodyslam on Madison and one on Rance. Hit hits hiptosses on both opponents so they bail. Back in the ring Madison attacks Stevens from behind and rakes his eyes on the top rope. Rance tags in and does the same. Madison tags in and hits a kneedrop for 2. Rance tags in and boots Stevens in the face. Madison tags in and hits a double stomp. He rakes the back and keeps the referee from seeing Sal’s tag. I hate that spot because the referee misses Rance’s tag but allows him to come in and pin Stevens for 2. Rance blocks a blind charge but runs into a powerslam. Sal brawls with Madison on the floor and isn’t on the apron to make the tag. Rance hits an enziguiri for 2. He puts on a chinlock but Stevens fights out and hits another powerslam. Sal tags in and hits a bodyslam on Rance. He dumps Madison to the floor and calls Stevens back into the ring. Out of nowhere Sal superkicks Stevens and tags him into the match. Madison picks Stevens up for a piledriver and both Sal and Rance spike it. The YRR pick up the win at 9:00. I’ve always liked Rinauro better as a heel. Actually I’ve just found him obnoxious as a babyface so this makes him neutral. The match was pretty good too.
Rating: **½

The new and improved YRR keep beating on Stevens until Seth Delay makes the save with a chair. Sal gets on the microphone and explains that he joined the YRR because he’s a star and he’s tired of carrying Erick Stevens. Dave Prazak and his Associates come out to the stage and congratulate the YRR. Prazak teases Delay and tells him to get out of the ring lest he send Cyber Kong to bash a pineapple over head his. Delay isn’t budging so we get a match. Well, that felt pretty forced.

Cyber Kong VS. Seth Delay
They lock up and Kong easily overpowers Delay. He puts on a headlock and hits a shoulder tackle. They knuckle up and Kong powers Delay down for 2. Delay hits a monkey flip but walks into a clotheslines. At least I think it was supposed to be a clothesline. Delay hits an armdrag and Kong bails. Delay follows him out with a suicide dive. Back in the ring Kong hits an avalanche. He climbs to the second rope and hits a clothesline for 2. He misses an avalanche and Delay comes off the top rope with a missile dropkick. Kong starts clubbing Delay and puts on THE CLAW. Delay escapes and hits a leaping forearm. He climbs the ropes and hits a dragon rana. Kong grabs the pineapple and hits Delay with it, drawing a disqualification at 6:06. Fun little match there, which is good because I was starting to think that Kong wasn’t worth the plane ticket.
Rating: **¼

Prazak is upset that Kong let the referee see the pineapple but he’s not going to let it keep him down. He’s confident that Bryan Danielson will successfully defend his title tonight and he’s also confident that nobody can defeat Shingo tonight. He challenges anyone to take Shingo on and Jerrelle Clark answers. He can’t even be bothered to look confident or like he doesn’t know he’s become a complete jobber in this company.

Shingo VS. Jerrelle Clark
They lock up and Shingo grabs a waistlock. He works over the wrist and then goes after the knee. Clark goes for a cross armbreaker but Shingo gets to the ropes. Shingo puts on a headlock and hits a bodyslam. Clark hits a hurricanrana and Shingo bails. Back in the ring Clark hits a pair of armdrags and a dropkick for 2. He stays on the arm so Shingo goes to the ropes. Shingo hits a cobra clutch giant swing but Clark comes back with a sunset flip for 2. Shingo hits a clothesline for 2 with a cocky cover. He puts on a chinlock and slams Clark to the mat. He distracts the referee and dumps Clark to the floor into the waiting arms of Mr. Milo Beasley and Cyber Kong. Shingo goes to the floor and rams Clark into the post. Clark uses the apron for leverage to hit an armdrag on the floor. Back in the ring Beasley helps Shingo regain control. Shingo hits a back elbow for 2. He hits a kneedrop for 2. Clark hits an enziguiri and a handspring moonsault for 2. Kong trips Clark and Shingo hits a legdrop. He hits a gutbuster and a DDT for 2. He puts on the Sasori-gatame and then switches to the STF. He floats into a crossface but Clark gets to the ropes. Shingo hits a clothesline in the corner but Clark comes back with a spinebuster. He hits a springboard crossbody and a dropkick. Shingo falls to the floor so Clark follows him out with a crossbody off the top. Back in the ring Clark hits a tilt-a-whirl DDT for 2. Milo climbs up to the apron but the referee shoves him to the floor. Pangs of guilt cause him to help Milo up and Kong shoves Clark off the top rope. Kong hits a claw slam on Clark, getting 2 for Shingo. Clark counters the Blood Fall to a crucifix bomb for 2. Shingo hits a neckbreaker and the Blood Fall for the win at 15:13. A little too much gaga for my liking but the bulk of the match was the solid stuff you’d expect from these two.

Phil and Sean Davis come out to cry about the kidnapping of So Cal Val at the hands of the Black Market. They want the Black Market to beat the Briscoes so that they can tear them apart later on in the tag title match.

Black Market VS. Jay & Mark Briscoe [Number One Contenders Match]
The Briscoes attack the Black Market on their way into the ring. Murphy hits a spinebuster on Mark and a double spinebuster on Jay with Machete. The Briscoes regroup on the floor. Mark and Murphy tag in and Murphy cleans house. He hits a bodyslam on Jay but gets caught by a crossbody from Mark. Jay hits a falcon arrow on Machete but Murphy catches him with a spear. Mark blocks the Blackout and Jay boots Murphy into a roll up giving the Briscoes the win at 6:13. For the time it was given this match was a lot of fun.
Rating: **½

Sean is really upset that he doesn’t get to fight the Black Market, so they’re going to make the Briscoes take their title shot right now.

Tag Team Championship
Phil DavisSean Davis VS. Jay & Mark Briscoe
Phil and Sean get the advantage to start. They dump Mark to the floor and hit a double back bodydrop on Jay. Mark hits a springboard dropkick on Phil and a superkick on Sean. They hit the springboard Doomsday Device on Phil for the win and the titles in 49 seconds. Talk about domination, the Briscoes just ran through the top two teams in the company in successive matches in about seven minutes. They celebrate with the fans after the match, letting a lot of kids hold the belts and signing autographs. Honestly, be they babyfaces here or heels in ROH, these guys are two of the best things going in wrestling today.
Rating: ½*

Erick Stevens comes to the stage to challenge Sal Rinauro to a fight! Sal attacks him from behind and they brawl around the building. Stevens dominates for a while until Sal hits him low. They get into the ring where Rance and Madison come out to help their new teammate. Delay and Roderick Strong make the save. Strong gets on the microphone and tells Delay and Madison to leave so that Matt Sydal can come out for their match.

Really good match that made Strong look like a real challenger for the title but kept Sydal strong as well.
Rating: ***½

Rating: ***¼

After the match Roderick Strong comes out to the ring and gets in Danielson’s face. He helps Richards to his feet but Danielson hits him from behind and knocks them into each other. Richards blames it on Strong and a shove fest erupts.

The 411BG Says

Aside from the big Briscoes win this felt like a placeholder show. The last two matches were very good however and the rest of the show was solid with no stinkers. As a big Briscoes fan I'd pick this up based on the night they had a lone, but there are some quality matches to make it even more worthwhile.
